[Archive] Fate of Chaos Dwarfs in the UK - [UPDATE FROM JERVIS JOHNSON]

Xander:

I’d like a topic to discuss this. What is the link to the source that says the UK can no longer use the RH list?

Also, if they are indeed no longer being used. I think we should do our best to all email and/or write in to GW to request that decision be overturned, if nothing else than to let it be known that we are here to stay.

Kyte:

might be because they’re reworking the whole concept in a new book.

Thanks

- Kyte

WarplockMonkey:

Well i live in the uk and i used CD against a GW staff member in a GW. I kicked his arse too :stuck_out_tongue:

Xander:

I thought there had been some official word on this? Can anyone shed some light?

cornixt:

The UK tournament rules has a list of all the armies allowed. CDs (and DoW) aren’t on it (nor are any Storm of Chaos armies).

Doesn’t stop either army from being legal, tournies often have extra and bizarre rules.

hal:

Yeah, I got my GT rules pack last week and there was no listing of CDs under the allowed armylists

Yes, but what’s the point in having a ‘legal’ army if it can’t be used in a GW tournament?
Obviously you can still play with those armies against your friends but not being able to go to the UK GT (the most prestigious tournament) is quite disheartening.

Lord Darkash:

last year they were mentioned however…

You will have to use the ‘counts as’ ruling for Dwarfs/ HoC I think.

The reason I think they have excluded them is because they have tightened up a lot on the ‘official’ definition of armybooks and sourcebooks. The pdf doesn’t fit in with this technicality. I would have been happy for them just to include the RH list in the rules booklet, and online.

Xander:

Thanks for posting that, Grim. Ill news for Chaos Dwarf players in the UK…

Draconis:

Interestingly enough, they still list the Chaos Dwarf FAQ on the UK site, though the location of the PDF is not under Hordes of Chaos like it is on the US site, but rather I assume, somewhere else. Though I could not locate it.

GW Stores; they only allow 'official' lists but usually allow all sorts of lists Tournaments disallow (i've even been able to use Harlequins pre 4th Eldar; and Genestealer Cults)

That may be, but it's still not a tournament and it's sometimes nice to play competitively.

@ draconis: I think you have to use the search engine to find the CD list.

Doombeard:

they only banned them because they knew how much ass they would kick

Draconis:

That may prove a point. In the hands of a capable player, Chaos Dwarfs can utterly annihilate an opponent without remorse whatsoever. The current PDF we have is very strong overall and decent in its power.

So they may have decided to take it out due to the points listed.

The 7th edition book lists the Chaos Dwarfs several times over, so I take that as a good sign. The GW shop around here also welcomes them to be played…so…I can only take that as good.

drow21:

they do kick arse indeed i hammerd basicaly everyone i played tbh my most sucsessful army,

but we do need a few more choices n things , im anoyed there cut out of the GT this year but then ive never been the sort of guy to play in one

Hammerhand:

Why Not get an E-petition together, requesting RH CDs be allowed in the UK GT. Just Post a Thread that CDo and HoH members can add their names and email addrsses to. We could then email a link to GW through the ‘Contact Us’ Link. Even Jervis Johnson may be an unlikely ally as in his Standard Bearer articles in WD, he seems to be fighting the good fight to bring WH back to the ‘good old days’. Might work, might not. But at least we’re doing something. If we spread the word through our e-mail address books, I am sure we would get even more people to sign just because it’s a fight against the opression of the many for the good of the few (am I sounding Churchill-esque yet?). I know a lot of my friends will e-sign a petition just because I ask them to. What do you say?:~

Lord Darkash:

Sounds a good idea, but i’d check with a Admin/mod first in case none of them look in this thread (though its unlikely they wont see it). PM one of them…

War Paint:

Got a list off this link if any help - although you all probably have it - is this RH seems later

Excuse newbie naivity

grom:

bettah would be forums admins mass e-mails to users with this information

Xander:

What emails do we have of the people who make the decisions for which lists are legal in the UK? I am not familiar with your staffers. Once we have those emails, we can work something up.
