Can't... wait... that... long...

Seriously, the NMM effect on the armour is very nice indeed.

Pyro Stick:

The bases are great. I really need to paint a unit of black orcs for my army…

Doombeard:

what does nmm mean

leviathan:

i believe it stands for nonmetallic metal. it’s when you paint armor/weapons etc. to look like metal but without using metallic paints. For example, you could paint gold by using a combination of browns and yellows. It’s a very effective and clean technique but quite challenging to master

wallacer:

iamahobgoblin
Leviathan is correct, it stands for Non Metallic Metals.
Or in my case WIDWIROOMP (What I Do When I Run Out of Metallic Paint).

Doombeard:

but i used mithril silver ! its about as metallic as you can get ! a combination of dry brushing the black armour all over then blocking it out with black to leave just the edges looking slightly worn - then adding scratch marks with small bits of m.silver

Doombeard:

so heres some more pics - still not quite finished painting yet trying to neaten up beards and put final touchs here and there i have b4 and after pics - 1st unit of warriors w/ hand weapons

Doombeard:

and painted -

Doombeard:

unit of warriors w/great weapons/ two handed weapons -

wallacer:

I was referring to the Orcs you posted above.

It looks like they’re wearing blackened iron armour (or something similar).

I thought looking at them that you’d used a NMM technique on them.

Did you?

Doombeard:

and painted -
