[Archive] Ubertechies Marauder Horde = Updated 25-May-2008

Ubertechie:

Hi there

Thought it was time to share my horde  - let me start by saying i am a player more than a painter and tend to aim for the best job i can achieve within a reasonable time frame rather than anything like the standard some of you achieve.

Anyway i now have almost all of the elements i need and they are shown in their initial state below - note that i have a large night goblin horde so they may great part time hobgoblins, wolf riders and bolt throwers :hat off

The list is as follows

3 * 23 Chaos Dwarf Warriors, with Standard and musician  (all will have a mix of GW / shields ) - mostly marauder metal (read lead) minis with the odd converted plastic current edition dwarf and a few of pulpers excellent new models

3 * 18 Chaos Dwarf Blunderbusses, with standard  - each unit includes, a bazooka, a mortar and a swivel gun plus 2 of pulpers new blunderbusses, plus a load of classic thunderers (i love the models), plus a converted plastic standard bearer

Test models

4 * chaos dwarf sorcerers, Marauder Mage, Krell Doomaxe, Big Arm and Pulpers cloaked mini

4 * Chaos dwarf heroes (these are all marauder metal)

Lots of hobgoblin (read night goblin infantry - i have over 200 painted)

10 Hobgoblin Wolf Riders

4 * Hobgoblin bolt throwers (painted from night goblin horde)

4 * hobgoblin bolt throwers (unpainted and donated from dwarf army)

10 * Black Orcs (painted from night goblin horde)

1 * Hell Cannon (partially assembled)

2 * 7 Bull Centaurs - these are currently being assembled from bull centaur bodies and converted slayer torsos

Comments please

Willmark:

Being a personal fan of washes/inks, I cannot help but admire the way your army looks, and has come together. I think that your effort is very evident, and you chose well where to spend a little extra time and effort on painting your army (the banners for example I really like).

Great job, keep us posted on your progress

P.S. That is a lot of Hobgoblins painted!

Thanks - i use a lot of inks and washes as they cover a lot of sins plus i like the dirty look that it gives - plus my drybrushing / blending skills are poor and lastly it allows me to get things done quickly as i prefer to play rather than paint

Ubertechie:

Well inspired by the many excellent articles here and the need to create a bunch of standard bearers and musicians form a box of dwarf warriors (current for dummies edition models) I decided to attempt to sculpt a beard onto a musician with a chaos warrior helmet - picture isn’t great but i am feeling really chuffed as it came out a lot better than i expected. He is now undercoated and will be joining the rest of the test models this week to have regiment 1 done by the weekend

Anyway here is is - comments as always welcome

Viskar Zhragoth:

Ubertechie,

Looks great, and I’m sure you’ll find it easier as you do more!

Enjoyed the hobgobbos, and the earlier poster was right about the banners/mushrooms…

Have fun gaming, and enjoy the conversions, you look like you are well on your way to a great looking Dawi Zharr force!

Fridericus_Rex:

Realy nice conversisons. Love the hand’s pose. I hope the warriors will be as good as the hobbos.

Vexxus:

Tip: use the ‘macro’ function on your camera for an all-encompassing focus rather than a targeted focus. Often this is represented by a flower icon (not coincidentally because this mode is ideal for shooting close-up flower photos).

I like the conversion, keep up the good work, you will get better and better with GS the more you use it. Somewhat intimidating at first, but people seem to catch on rather quickly!

Oh, on a side-note I wanted to mention that I am the polar opposite of you, in that I am all about the modeling and painting these days, and not about game-play. However, it does interest me, and I think that if a list ever comes out I will be all over the playing scene.

Geckilian:

Nice conversion, but you seem to have hit the same problem I did. As it is now, that Chaos dwarf looks like he has a really long neck. It may help to trim down the neck area slightly, perhaps a tad lower than the shoulders, to keep proportion, as it were.

As for greenstuff skills and your entire army, nice work.

dancehat:

Very nice stuff. Very nice choice in colours and generally cool stuff!

Cheers

Kera foehunter:

Great army i like your colors greens and browns

Xander:

Awesome stuff, man!

Ubertechie:
