Agreed! The poll is just for fun anyway.
I have added Crowns as a Creed that can be chosen in our profiles.
Like anything else, common parlance will dictate what people gravitate to.
I for one welcome our new Short King overlords. ![]()

I think Deco makes most sense as a descriptor of their style - it’s angular, it’s stylised and it tends to make abstract more traditional aspects of chorfs.
Or we just call them Hellsmiths ![]()
Just realised it looks like the mounted sorcerer looks like she has a hand grenade!
The more lore I read about the Helsmiths taking pride in their opulence, the more I like the Crowns moniker. ![]()

The more I see of the designers notes, the more I realise the chances of them releasing a Chaos Dwarfs army in TOW are pretty much zero, at least for the next few years.
Imo
Now that’s iteresting, I have exactly the opposite impression! What prompted this for you?
Now granted, this is the new release of any army/game I probably paid closest attention too ever (next to Cathay, maybe), but I’m seeing them making a big wave here. They’re quite meticulous in constantly referencing old material, heck they showed the original WD Presents: Chaos Dwarfs artwork in videos, even mentioning 3rd ed Chaos Dwarfs in Realms of Chaos, and all of that in multiple occasions. If (and I hope and expect it to be) Helsmiths are a success, surely they should be quite happy that they at least included Chaos Dwarfs as a legacy faction in TOW. The seed is there, and if players respond well to Chaos Dwarfs in AoS, GW might just include them in the eventual re-integration of legacy factions in TOW, something I personally didn’t see happen a few months ago, to be honest. Something about rising tides lifting all boats. I can’t help but see a successful story for Chaos Dwarfs in AoS benefitting Chaos Dwarfs in all their settings.
Whilst that is possible, it would only be likely if they completely reset TOW. With completely new model revamps for old factions.
Until then, AoS is their playground for them
Imo.
Mhm, why that? They could just bring back all the existing Chaos Dwarf models. They’ve done it with all the other armies.
Well… There is a general aesthetic of 6th/ 7th ed. Depending on your viewpoint the metal big hat CD wouldn’t fit into that.
If they could transition a very simple sprue set for LoA that’s much more likely than seeing the big hats models brought back.
They’ve added a whole new army to TOW, so a complete plastic range for an army that never had them doesn’t seem too far away from that.
Given that the TOW army list is basically the LoA army list with a few extras they would just bring back the resin Legion of Azgorh models. From the big hat era we might get the Lammasu and Hobgoblins. They’ve done this with other armies too (Treemen, Trolls etc)
I also had the impression that Chaos Dwarfs are still possible in Old World.
Especially when I read them comparing the evolution of High Elves into Lumineth as being the same process for evolving Chaos Dwarfs into Helsmiths.
That alone provides the possibly of having classic Chaos Dwarfs with Chaos Arrows and all the rest of the other Chaosy aesthetics reserved for Old World.
I think it will depend on the how well sales for Cathay go.
GW are clearly open to exploring otherwise unexplored / less explored aspects of TOW such as Cathay and Kislev, but at the same time the specialist games folks have said their narrative focus, at least for now is distinctly on the Old World itself, hence the lore around Cathay is broadly in the form of an expedition to the West.
Now, as they prepare for the everchosen of that prior era, it may well be that chorfs could be incorporated in the same way they were part of Tamurkhan’s book, but again I think it will come down to how well they think the sales will go.
GW has in recent years also shown a willingness to recreate in plastic certain forgeworld ranges such as the Death Corps of Krieg
Another nickname option could be “Beetles”, since turns out the Ogor Mawtribes call the Helsmiths Beetle-Folk.
There was something beetle-like in how the Hashutite duardin crossed the black basalt plain, how their armour shimmered a glossy metallic black under Aqshy’s skies.
Would be pretty fitting. Especially since the villain of First Marshal, Sarukh Soulburn, used something called the ‘Crown of Souls’. The Crown of Souls acted as a major plot point for the Helsmiths very first novel appearance.
So, i’m just checking by, after 1 year has any name being established for those new Shitlings?
Last time I checked they were called Bullshits
