Hi dudes, this is my first army list with Chaos Dwarves. At moment I haven?Tt all models of this army list, so I need your help in order to shop good things.
The main idea is ?oIndustry?, that?Ts why I really want to use the Iron Deamon War Machine, the Dreadquake Mortar and the Deathshrieker Rocket Launcher on a Steam Carriage.
I?Tve ever bought the deathshrieker Rocket Launcher and some Chaos Dwarf Infernal Guards with shields, so they must be on the army list.
Oh, and sorry, I didn?Tt found the name of the magical objects because my rule book is in French, so if someone can give me the traduction of ?oBouclier anchanté?, ?oParchemin de dissipation? and ?ooriflamme de lumière?, I will be very happy !
Heroes : 10,66% of the army
1 Deamonsmith Sorcerer (160 points)
Lore of fire
Level 2
?oBouclier enchant and ?oParchemin de dissipation?
Core : 36,93% of the army
22 Chaos Dwarf Infernal Guards (301 points)
Musician, Standart Bearer and Deathmask
?ooriflamme de lumière?
13 Chaos Dwarf Inernal Guards (253 points)
Fierglaives
Musician, Standart Bearer and Deathmask
Special : 36,33% of the army
3 Bull Centaur Renders (135 points)
Shields
1 Deathshrieker Rocket Launcher (125 points)
Steam Carriage
1 Iron Deamon War Engine (285 points)
Rare : 16% of the army
1 Dreadquake Mortar (240 points)
Steam Carrige and Slave Ogre
Total : 1499 / 1500 points
The Deamonsmith Sorcerer stay with the war machines in order to use the Infernal Engineer special rule. I am not sure on the lore to give to him.
War machines are deployed on back of the army, and if it?Ts possible on a hill. The Deathsrieker Rocket Launcher can shot monsters or big feeble units, and the Dreadquake Mortar shot resistant units like knights.
Infernal Guards with shields are nearly war machines in order to protect them.
Infernal Guards with fireglaives are nearly war machines too, but their role is to shot fast cavalry or others scouts. They are a menace for all others units because of their equipment.
Bull Centaur Renders make combine charges with infernal guards.
And I don?Tt know which role give to the Iron Deamon War Engine ?.
Sorry if my English is sometime wrong, I hope you understood me.
Well firstly I must say that it is generally considered that the steam carriage option is useless game. Although it is a nice idea, in reality you don’t need to move your warmachines at the pitiful speed of the steam carriage and the negative of not being able to shoot whilst moving makes it even more useless. All Chaos Dwarf warmachine have good range so there is no real need to move after deployment. You do get the extra protection of hard cover, but it’s not worth the points you pay for it, better off going Hellbound.
Other than that it’s not a bad start to an army, Fireglaives aren’t considered to be great but a lot of people do swear by small units of them. I also personally think the Hellcannon is better value than the Dreadquake for similar points and would be better in a smaller army like this as it can often hold a flank on its own.
I would put great weapons on the bull centaurs, they don’t tend to kill much without them.
definitely an interesting list. Like MLP said most people consider the steam carriage upgrade to be useless, me included. if you are able to make it work let us know how. the biggest problem of course is that if it moves it can’t fire and we all know a warmachine that doesn’t fire is pretty useless. the dreadquake is inferior to the hellcannon in my opinion. the biggest reason is that in the end the hellcannon is still a monster that can pack a punch. the damage they both put out in shooting is comparable.
you should give the Iron deamon hellbound. this would make it have magical attacks, good for ethereals, and the +1W and +1T really helps hold up the Toughest of foes. make sure to remember to position it so that after the unit you wish to charge moves, the iron deamon will still be able to charge it. its limited charging rules can make it tricky to set up correctly. also use it to take on infantry war beasts or swarms primarily. if you fight against anything bigger, you will not be able to thunderstomp it. for bigger things make sure you get the charge so at least you will be able to cause Impact hits before tarpitting them for the rest of the game.
go great weapons on the bull centaurs, otherwise they won’t do alot.
let us know how things go with the list. even though we feel that some things aren’t optimum don’t let it discourage you from trying them out.
I am trying to improve m’y army list but I have a few questions.
First, I want my models to respect “what you see is what you get” spirit. So if my Bull Centaur Renders are Forge World models (without conversions), can I say they have shields AND great weapons ?
Must I deploy my warmachines with an Iron Deamon if they have steam carriages ? Or can I deploy them separately ?
And what about the lore of the Deamonsmith Sorcerer ? Lore of fire is good or not ?
Oh, and I forgot to say I want only Forge World models on my army, so I don’t want a Hellcannon (and the Dreadquake mortar is beautiful :3 )
As far as the bull centaurs go it will depend on what your opponents consider great weapons. The current models have small hand axes and shields. I consider a great weapon to have a long handle allowing two hands to be on it. That said you could always extend the handles on the axes. Or if your opponents are not picky just consider the axes as “great” weapons with shields.
Drop the steam carriage idea.
Keep the smith near the dreadquake to make it real nasty. I’d also look at giving your smith sometype of magic shield and a dispel scroll (unless those are the items you already have on him - I know only english).
Bull centaurs are more effective for me in units of 4 (deployed 2X2). I’d look at doing that if you can get some spare points.
The guard are setup oddly in my opinion. Maybe look at taking 10 with fireglaives and a musician. And then make the other unit with hand weapons 25 strong (5X5) formation.
I have a bit improved my army list with your comments (I think). Just gave Great Weapons to the Bull Centaur Renders and some optional equipment to the Deathmasks. But the Deamonsmith Sorcerer loses his Dispel Scroll.
I know that Steam Carriage is not very good but I prefer add to my war machines more protections. And I think Hellbound is not necessary on this forma.
I made another army list without Bull Centaur Renders but within a Magma Cannon, maybe there are too many war machines and not enough melee units.

Of course in this second army list war machines aren?Tt deployed with the Iron Deamon but on the back. The Iron Deamon protects one flank with the Infernal Guards with Fireglaives and the other flack is protecting by the Infernal Guards with Shields.
The both Deamonsmith Sorcerers are deployed with war machines. The general is very on the back and attack big regiments (or ethereal regiments), and the other Deamonsmith Sorcerer is like a sniper against monsters or heroes.
