fattdex:
This might end up more of a summary of how the game progressed than a turn by turn recollection, as my memory is not that fantastic.
terrain was a large forest in the middle of the table to the left and a smaller forest in the middle of the table to the right, and some other pieces of no consequence.
Mission was dawn attack, so deployment was not as optimal as the chaos dwarves would have liked!
High elves set up first.
high elf deployment (flanks are screen oriented)
Left flank- 8 silver helms
Centre (left to right)- mounted noble bsb, great eagle, large block of seaguard (30? in horde), lv4 archmage standing behind the silver helm lines, 10? white lions, 14? swordmasters
[SH]…[BSB]…[GE].[GEN/SG]…[WL]…
chaos dwarves deployed opposite
Left flank: 4 Bull Centaurs with great weapons
Centre (left to right) Taur’ruk, 25 infernal guard with hand weapons, castellan BSB, level 4 hashut sorceror prophet on the right edge of the centre
Right Flank: magma cannon
[BC]…[TK]…[BSB/IG]…[GEN]…
not an optimal setup for the chaos dwarves, but bull centaurs were set up to sweep toward the centre.
The high elf player hands it to the chaos dwarves to go first.
turn one CD’s
Bull centaurs march toward the centre of the table, behind the larger forest on the left, to join the taur’ruk. Infernal guard march toward the space between the two forests.
Sorceror prophets shoots off flames of azghor targeted at the eagle- it scatters 4 inches right onto the archmage who is standing behind the seaguard lines. kills three seaguard, wounds the archmage for 4 wounds. Failed lookout sir. no ward save… dead high elf general turn one.
turn one HE’s
Silver helms march down the left flank, toward the left of the forest, BSB marches in this direction also. the great eagle marches up between the two forests, sea guard stay put, white lions march into the smaller forest to the right, swordmasters generally march forward.
turn two CD’s
Bull centaurs declare a charge on the great eagle who flees, bull centaurs redirect into the white lions in the right (fungus) forest. dwarves march up.
SP casts curse of hashut taking a wound off the eagle, and irresistable casts ash storm on the silver helms, losing a level and the spell. magma cannon kills 12 swordmasters.
White lions cause a wound on the bull centaurs, bull centaurs hammer them back to two left who flee and are caught- bull centaurs reform targeting towards the block of seaguard.
turn two HE’s
eagle recovers, the remaining swordmasters charge the infernal guard.
silver helms had wanted to charge the infernal guard but were right out of arc (and probably too far), so reformed and turned around instead.
seaguard shot at the bull centaur for no effect.
Swordmasters took down two chaos dwarves before being slain.
turn three CD’s
bull centaurs advance toward the seaguard, dwarves march up to the gap between forests.
sorceror prophet twiddles thumbs as everything is out of his range, sticks around to see if a reroll is needed. magma cannon blasts off a few seaguard.
turn three he’s
kind of fuzzy here, but i think the seaguard shot a wound into the bull centaurs, and the silverhelms and bsb marched back toward the silverhelms. eagle bounced into the bull centaurs and was crushed.
turn four CD’s
Bull centaurs charge the seaguard who hold (wasn’t going to remind him to stand and shoot), dwarves march up, general marches up, magma cannon drags up. cast dark subjugation on the siver helms to give them -1 LD.
the seaguard cause a wound which fell a bull, bulls cut back with about 8. sea guard holds
turn 4 HE’s
BSB and silver helms charge left flank of the BC’s.
Another centaur drops, tauruk drops a wound, bull centaurs drop about another 8 seaguard, ~five from 8 attacks and three from stomp. BC’s lose the combat but hold- BSB is now in range behind them.
turn 5 CD’s
Dwarves make a mighty stumpy legged 13 inch charge into the flank of the silver helms. sorceror prophet runs up into helping range. cast curse of hashut on the high elf bsb- for 2 hits minus his toughness
bull centaurs wiped out the remaining seaguard, dwarves killed two silverhelms. tau’ruk now on two wounds. elves lose combat, but stay.
turn 5 HE’s
tau’ruk is finished by the elf BSB- the dwarves kill a few more silver helms.
Elves lose combat by some margin, remaining silver helms flee, as the -1 ld was enough to push them off.
Turn 6 dwarves/elves
To much to do! last elves running away, victory for the chaos dwarves.
