Would a list with double Hellcannons and Double trains be decent enough in the shooting phase to do without a rocket? I was thinking since the rocket is strongest vs t3 units (which are usually infantry) an Iron daemon would be as effective with its ability to thunderstomp them. For monsters the str6 d3 wounds will make short work of them and likely kill 1 monster a turn between both of them. Thoughts?

I've found dual hellcannons to be the proper way to go, for me atleast. 2 IDs and 2 HCs is 4 thunderstomps, such lists has hard times with heavy cavalry is my experience... In most other cases you'll be mostly fine :hat off
Hellcannons are my favourite unit in the game - I love them. With the wardsave and and the crazy monsters and handlers rules they are super resilient to cannon fire.
I also like my hellbound irondemon. Unles it get’s hit with acute Searing Doom Syndrome it’s always dishing out a lot of damage.
Problem is the bad range on it’s shooting and not hitting anything (unless beefed with some magic). And for my my IDs haven’t earned their keep from shooting yet, but by taking on and holding down the major infantry blocks of the enemy. Even though it should take out Monstrous Cavalry and monsters good.
Problem is the price I think, There’s three Death Shriekers in 1 Iron Demon - and that’s gonn kill a lot more taking in range, indirect fire ability, your cheese hit enemies in combat trick etc.
Plus it’s d6 wounds, st8 is a good way of taking out enemy warmachines.
