[Archive] 2000pt Combat List - Tamurkhan

Time of Madness:

Trying out a combat style list which doesn’t rely as much on magic, shooting or war machines.

SPECIAL

Deathshrieker

= 100pts

Magma Cannon

= 145pts

RARE

K?Tdaai Destroyer

= 325pts

TOTAL POINTS = 1998pts

The 2 units of infernal guard will be placed side by side with the fireborn and destroyer on the flanks. This gives me 2 solid stubborn anvils supported by the 2 flanking units.

The hellsmith takes the 1st level fire spell and hurls 3d6 fireballs while helping out the warmachines.

It was a bit tight with only 500pts to spend on the characters. I would have liked to have added the charmed shield to the daemonsmith and the dragonhelm to the bsb. I guess I could always drop a musician for the changes.

Galladorn:

I like your list, but I just think that the problem is going to rest with your flankers. We will always be outnumbered by our enemies when we use infernal guard.

You have 2 solid anvils, there is no doubt about that, but aside from the destroyer, am concerned with your ability to destroy the enemy. The fireborn are support units, and I think they’ll fold in a serious fight.

I’ve been toying around with going 1 for 1 with anvils and hammers as it concerns the IG.

I know I’m gonna be flamed for it, but I really like the great weapon infernal guard. arranged 7x3 and being stubborn is quite vicious.

I’ve played small games with them in which they gave alot more than they got.

The Besieger:

You have a nice list for 2000 pts.

For the BSB i will go for a AS 2+ and WS 4+ also (Same Like your genreral).

And give him The Mask of the Furnace + a Shield.

General

- The Mask of the Furnace

- Shield

AS 2+ WS 4+ (WS 2+ vs fire)

BSB

- Talisman of Preservation

- Enchanted shield

- Dawnstone

AS 2+ WS 4+ (Reroll AS)

For this setup you need find 30 extra points

So remove the 2 Deathshrieker’s add 1 extra Magma Cannon :).

Now you have 25 extra points to spend.

My Magma Cannnon killed last night.

Turn 1 9 White Lions

Turn 2 missfire

Turn 3 16 High Elves Spearmen

Turn 4 18 High Elves bowmen

Turn 5 Dint shoot (no Targets all in CC)

Time of Madness:

When I bring it up to 2400pts all I will do is make both units of infernal guard 29 strong (30 with castellan), add a magic level and opal amulet to the smith and throw in a hellcannon. That brings me up to just under 2400pts.

Bolg:

Its nice to see how much you can bring in a 2000 pnt list. Good indication to collect around.

Parish:

Don’t you fear to be “outplayed” during the magic phases ?

Steve D:

How has this list been faring as I was thinking of running something similar?

the_Forge_Lord:

I would be interested in hearing about any games you have played versus a strong magic phase. Well any games, I suppose!

Time of Madness:

The list has being doing very well. I’ve only had a few games so far, but I’m pretty happy without the prophet.

The “unkillable” Castellans stablized the Infernal guard and allow the K’daai to get into the flanks.

I ran into a Lizardmen list led by a Slaan with lore of life. Dwellers is a pain! However I didn’t fair to badly considering I was out matched in the magic phase. The Magma Cannon makes a mess of Temple/Saurus units. The game finished a draw which was a pretty good result for me as I feel Lizardmen are one of the toughest match ups for us.

At 2000pts I generally don’t run into a ton of magic, most opponents will only have a level 4 or a couple level 2’s at that level. I’m comfortable knowing I’m going to take some lumps in the magic phase, however I’m usually able to dispel one spell a turn (sometimes more) depending on how many dice the winds of magic give us.

Overall I’ve had the most fun with this list so far and am not missing the Prophet a whole lot. When the games get a bit bigger point-wise I think the Prophet will be back in.

ChungEssence:

Bah… you call that a combat list.

Field a combat list with no Warmachines… (cept maybe an Iron Daemon)… now that’s a combat list.

Be a Man!!! (in Russell Peters voice)

Anyway, that aside… nice list. I like it. Seems pretty solid all round, just magic and movement weak. With 3 war machines it’s not shooting weak.

I will do up a pure combat Tamurkan list at some stage. It’ll be interesting to see how it fairs at 2k pts vs my pure combat dwarf force (The STROLLAZ with no missile weapons or war machines at all).

Please post some more battle experiences with your list. I’m keen to read them. Especially about the deployment phase as some armies have lots of ‘drops’ (small squads to control the deployment/assure they deploy optimally)

In general, how many spells were you able to get off all game with the lvl 1?

Yeah… the Magma Cannon is broken as hell. Wish it wasn’t so unbalanced.

My biggest gripe with the list. Artwork looks so beautiful though

Steve D:

I make that 2023 points?

corlm:

Both Talisman of Preservation and Dawnstone are talismans sadly.

Time of Madness:

Yes I realize that, this thread is almost a month old.
