Alan the evil:
Hi all.
After some playtests I find at least an interesting list, enough versatile vs everything:
#1 Sorcerer lord level 4 + black gem of gnar 260
#2 sorcerer level 2 100
#3 sorcerer level 1 65
magic items for 3 sorcerers: 3 scrolls/stones + staff of sorcery 125
#4 BSB BC + armor of Gazrak + sword of might 175
22 warriors + full command + warbanner 253 + #1 + #4
19 warriors + GW + full command 239 + #2
15 blunderbusses 180
15 blunderbusses 180
20 naked hobbos 40
20 naked hobbos 40
10 wolfriders + l/a + sh + musician 140
4 BT 120
8 black orks + sh + musician 118
5 bullcentaures + h/a 105
earthshaker 110
total 2250
usually I haven’t standard lores for my sorcerers, but i’m starting to use lore of shade with 1st spell for sorcerer level 1 and it works very well…
some opinions??
Border Reiver:
A very solid list. I seem to remember you saying that lists are usually magic heavy where you are, so I don’t think I can fault your choices faor characters, or their equipment.
The BC Hero was selected primarily to provide some hitting power to that unit of warriors I presume? He should excell there, as well as supplying some good CR.
Good, solid core choices, although I find the blunderbuss units to be small. I prefer to run them 20 strong to absorb casualties before losing S.
I know the matter has been debated adnauseum, but I find that 20 strong bait units of naked hobbos are just too big. I prefer to keep the units small if they are intended as sacrifical meat - 10 will deflect just as well as 20, and give you twice as many units, while if the unit is to be a tarpit, then 20 with LA and Shield with a standard for the extra static res will yeild fewer casualties, but for a proportionately higher points cost. In the end it comes down to what works for you.
The wolfriders should work well for you - they are point for point among the best fast cavalry in the game, and it is hard to argue with a 4+ save in a fast cavalry unit.
I like black orcs as a hammer unit - at least 20 strong with full command, but I see where a smaller unit makes an admirable flanker to a CD warrior unit, and if nothing else, can be a distraction from your other units.
The only alteration I would make would be to find the points for a musician for the Bull Centaurs - their slightly lower leadership can use the boost if they end up fleeing.
Baggronor:
I would try to get a 6th Bull Centaur for the extra hittiness. Maybe drop 2 warriors from the large block and the musician from the Blorcs to do so?
Not sure about the Blorcs in general actually, 118 points is an awful lot for 8 guys, a few bow shots and they’ll be half strength. I would be tempted to say either get a decent-sized unit (12-15) or don’t bother.
Perhaps swap the Lv1 sorcerer for a Hero general? Or a hero BSB, so the Battle Standard stays with the infantry if the BC hero rides with the Wolfboyz?
Awesome list though, pretty much my ideal CD list

BC is fondamental to improve combat result with his S5 4 attcks into the unit with 3 ranks, standard, BSB, warbanner and maybe number (starting unit strenght:25), even using black gem of sorcerer lord if unit it’s charged from enemy unit with a strong hero lord to avoid his ataacks andimprove combat result. Warriors must only to stand as tought as it possible with 3+ AS.
And in last turn BC BSB can use his M8 to go looking for some points charging small unit of survivals (without ranks, obviously).
BB work well even with 15 models… usually I don’t loose too much models on shoot… but usually I don’t play vs WE!!
I’m already thinking to reduce unit of hobbos beacause of animosity: when blocks of 20 models decided to struggle among themselves, they stop lots of my movement. Sometimes 20 models can even stand one turn more on HtH combat… but I strongly think about their downgrade.
Wolf rider: if they don’t fail an anomisity test in the 1st annd 2nd turn they are too strong!! Impossible to play without
Black orcks: I usually use them like support to main blocks of CD warriors, but yesterday I used them vs night goblin army to protect the flank with my BTs and they worked EXCELLENTLY. They standed a charriot charge and after this they stopped for 3 HtH combat turns 25 night goblins and they were defieted only after the charge of spiders. Amazing.

6th BC? this doesn’t sound so bad… but not dropping warriors to main block: they must start with unit strenght:25… maybe reducing hobbos
about BO, i suggest you to try small units… and if my enemy decide to shoot on them insted then elsewhere I’m not so worry…
About Lv1 sorcerer: he was a great discovered.
I put staff of sorcery on him and I gave him teh 1st spell of lore of shade: so he was able to do a lots of dirty funny deeds.
Sorcerer lord general close to BSB into a hard block with black gem is a good general. I never repent myself to choose him.
I already used BC into wolf riders but
OR wolf riders fail animosity and stop BC
OR BC must to desattach himself from wolfriders and he stops them
Hard to use.
Thanks for your ideas:hat off
PS : I just want to point that I usually play vs: empire, dwarfs, skaven, goblin, DoW, HE, VC and DoC (this last the worst MU)
