ok, here is my original list, though i would like to swap the bull centaur characters for a lord w/ burninator or super anti SOB stick, and a chaos dwarf BSB.just not sure how to fit the points.
Bull Centaur Lord: Black Hammer of Hashut, Heavy Armor, Shield-224
Bull Centaur Hero: Great Weapon, Heavy Armor, Shield-110
-each of these go in a bull centaur unit, considered giving the hero the gauntlets for the str 7.
Chaos Dwarf Sorcerer: Lvl 2, Power Stone, Scroll-150
Chaos Dwarf Sorcerer: Lvl 2, Power Stone, Scroll-150
-these are my answer to the too little, too much magic debate.6 pd on their own will not do much, but the stones augment that for a turn or 2.4 DD and 2 scrolls is healthy for my play enviroment.
10 Chaos Dwarves: Blunderbusses-120
-these defend warmachine gun hill if i am graced with one.
19 Chaos Dwarves: Blunderbusses, Full Command-258
19 Chaos Dwarves: Blunderbusses, Full Command-258
-sorcerers go here.now i know alot of people will tell me these are too big of units.here is my thinking: i get str 5 shots, maybe 2x, i get 3 ranks(assuming other units are worth more time to kill), i get a banner, and ld 9.should be able to hold a round or two of combat, make them pay for charging me, and provide a semi decent anvil for counter charging.
10 Hobgoblin Wolf Boyz-110
10 Hobgoblin Wolf Boyz-110
-flankers, mage hunters, anti enemy fast cav, you know, the normal fast cavy stuff.
2 Hobgoblin Bolt Throwers-60
2 Hobgoblin Bolt Throwers-60
Death Rocket-80
Death Rocket-80
-the idea of 6 war machines makes me giddy, 2 stonethrowers that have the potential to kill even on the misfire is fun, and 4 bolt throwers might hit something.
9 Bull Centaurs: Heavy Armor, Full Command-234
9 Bull Centaurs: Heavy Armor, Full Command-234
-can openers, counterchargers, just plain killy.
now my army will be different from most model wise.first off, no dread locks.next, no big hats, finally, the bull centaurs are not dwarves.im stealing an idea i saw in WD for the dwarves: cutting off the head above the beard, and replacing with the top half of a skeleton head.then embellish with horns.yes it does not fit chaos dwarf fluff(maybe if i call them masks), but could look cool:mask.the bull centaurs are a conversion im going to be working on of a hybrid black orc/boar making a boar centaur(patent pending:sick)simmilar stats and options to black orcs, so why not?
now, what would you drop to get a great taurus rider with burninator(hammer), or super anti SOB stick(mace of death)?what about him AND a bsb?
Nothing wrong with 20 strong blunderbuss units, I use them religiously.
Not sure about the 10 BBs for the artillery protection. If that’s the kind of points you’re looking to invest you might be better off with another unit of wolf riders.10 won’t do much for you, especially since they can’t move and fire, so any fliers heading towards the artillery will just land out of the BB’s arc of fire.
Buy musicians for your wolf boyz.
If you really want to field the Taurus i’d drop a Death rocket (maybe both of them), some BTs and a BC unit. The reason being that death rockets aren’t that flash (not for me anyway, you may have more luck); BTs as a lot of opponents won’t like facing a lot of BTs (i.e. more than 2); and a BC unit as they are really best suited to being on the flank (especially with a unit of wolves and the Taurus), and bearing in mind that the size of your army will probably force you to play a denied flank tactic against a lot of opponents that means that you may have trouble squeezing the second BC unit in.
Your main difficulty would be reliance on shooting, I would imagine.
I’m not sure what your cav and Taurus (if you choose to get one) will be able to do without some solid blocks of warriors acting in support (i’m not saying it won’t work, i’ve just never tried it).
well, BB CAN move and fire for starters. also, i need 3 units of CD’s to fufill core requirements(3+ at 2250). i also figure a unit of 10 bull centaurs w/ character can win combat straight up. rank+banner+possible outnumber+4-10 kills. opinions noted though!
taurus is just from my desire to use a flying terror causer i never bothered with my other armies.:hashut
Yes, they can move and fire  Serves me right for posting when i’m half asleep.
How are you planning on using the blunderbusses? Are you going to move them up in support of the cav, or keep them back to form a gunline with the artillery?
I’m curious to know, since i’ve never tried using a Taurus and cav unsupported by infantry.
taurus is just from my desire to use a flying terror causer i never bothered with my other armies.:hashut
Malificant
The taurus is a lot of fun to game with, especially if your opponent has no bolt throwers or cannons.
well, i havnt thought about the taurus yet. so far with my current list, it is a reactionary force. i pound the enemy for about 2 turns with bolt throwers and death rockets, then switch to agressive, moving up my blunderbusses to pound on close units, and charging with the bull centaurs. the hobgobs will warmachine/mage/flanker hunt.
it may be a while, as i totaled my car and need money elsewhere, but i shall keep you updated. this will eventually turn into a major project. and after watching xander’s tutorial, i re-thought the beards:cheers
here is list #2 w/ the taurus:
Chaos Dwarf Lord: Great Taurus, Heavy Armor, Shield, Black Hammer of Hashut-404
Chaos Dwarf Hero: BSB, Armor of Gazhark-115
Chaos Dwarf Sorcerer: Lvl 2, Scroll, Stone-150
Chaos Dwarf Sorcerer: Lvl 2, Scroll, Stone-150
23 Chaos Dwarves: Command-246
14 Chaos Dwarves: Blunderbuss-168
14 Chaos Dwarves: Blunderbuss-168
10 Hobgoblin Wolfboyz-110
10 Hobgoblin Wolfboyz-110
2 Hobgoblin Bolt Throwers-60
2 Hobgoblin Bolt Throwers-60
Death Rocket: 80
10 Bull Centaurs: Heavy Armor, Command-255
Earth Shaker-120
this leaves me with 54 points. my thoughts are to either upgrade the cav to LA/S, or give the cav musicians and the BSB sword of might. or give the cav musicians and the bull centaurs the warbanner.
this is more cost friendly(so id be able to do it quicker) as id be able to use the bfsp box to make 10 BB, 12 warriors, both wizards, possibly part of the taurus hero, command from the miners for the warmachines, the earthshaker im sure i can convert heavily out of the cannon.
also, what are people’s (or wallacer’s it seems:cheers) opinions on unit fillers? im thinking enslaved ogres would work well, and provide some height to the units. aka leadbelchers in a BB unit, bulls in a HW/S unit, ironguts in a GW unit, etc. i think it could a) look cool to have ogres with CD beards, b) show in the army the slaver nature of the dwarves(have them chained with slavedrivers and such), and c) provide some variation in stature to the army.
actually the more i think about the ogres unit fillers, the more i like it. that could be my theme, they specialize in enslaving ogres and such along the ivory road.
