Well, after thinking about it I decided I would post up another potential list, and get your opinions on which would be better, as I love the idea’s behind both of them.
So, List A, or list B?
Chaos Dwarf Sorcerer Lord: 325 pts –Chalice of Darkness, 2x Power stone –Level 4 Magic Lord to start off my huge amount of magic
Chaos Dwarf Hero: 94 pts –Great weapon –Armor of gazrakh the General

Chaos Dwarf Blunderbussiers (16): 222 pts –Full Command The two level twos sit in here Chaos Dwarf Blunderbussiers (17): 234 pts –Full Command The Lord sits in here
Hobgoblin Warriors (30): 140 pts –Light Armor/Shield –Standard, Musician Hobgoblin Warriors (30): 140 pts –Light Armor/Shield –Standard, Musician These are Hobgoblins made to fight, they support my one CD combat block
Hobgoblin Bowmen (10): 50 pts Hobgoblin Bowmen (10): 50 pts Hobgoblin Bowmen (10): 50 pts Hobgoblin Bowmen (10): 50 pts The bowmen of my army
Sneaky Gitz (25): 145 pts –Standard, Musician Another Hobgoblin combat block, should I keep them or get another two bolt throwers?
Earthshaker: 110 pts Ah, the earthshaker. I’d take two if I think I could make two.
Total: 2486 pts
I’m thinking that this army will castle up on a hill, much like normal dwarfs, with the fighters surrounding the hill and the ranged troops sitting on top with the war machines. The mages take the lore of fire or the lore of death and rain down doom along side them. So, what do you guys think?
With the amount of magic you have, Chalice is good.
You’re going really shooting heavy. Which is deadly, and I give you props for not going 2 Earth shakers. It’s still a bit strong, perhaps dropping a couple throwers and 2 units of Hobgob archers. This could allow for a number of cool options.
Then again at 2500 pts it might not be so bad, but I’d like to see more fighty units.
I’m a little concerned as I’ve always thought shooty lists need some good leadership backing it up. By going sorc heavy you’re losing out on the easy ld 10 we can get via heroes.
Edit: Shouldn’t we be avoiding posting points for the units or is it just me?
You are right, they do need good leadership backing them up, and that is why I have the ld 10 CD hero. (We are talking about list B right?)
I thought posting points was alright as long as you didn’t post specific upgrades, just the total unit cost?
Also I’m a bit confused, which list are you talking about… I want C&C on both lists but also for people to say which they like better, as I can’t choose.
It sounds like swiss likes list B better, and I agree with him. Shooting is what CD do well, and going magic heavy helps us keep up with the current edition. (generic magic is part of the power creep).
Hmm, this might sound crazy, but what about taking out the sneaky gitz, taking out the CD Hero, and adding in another CD sorcerer with 2x dispel scrolls (the armies in my area are REALLY heavy magic…VC, Lizards, WoC, and magic heavy daemons), take out a bowman unit, and add in another unit of Hobgoblin Warriors.
3 level 2 mages and a level 4 mage, and 4 combat units.
