So i recently started chaos dwarfs. Picks up a huge lot for real cheap and was even more surprised to find that they are all official Forge world. So without further words here is the first model of my chaos dwarf army:

was going for a burnished bronze. Doing them as part of a mine/mountain/fortress to the south so less magma and more rock.
Was told on facebook to start a blog and so i decided i would for the first time.

Way too big! Most image host pages have a resize function for pictures. I use Google Picassa for hosting all my pictures. Let me choose between four different sizes when uploading. You can also use your FB for resizing, just copy the url from there.
Welcome to the forum DarkApostle! Glad to see you start a blog, you’ll get a lot in return from that.
I like your miniature, good mix of metal colours. The fiery rune on the shield is really cool. You should go for different CD runes on the shields. Make a bit of different on those miniatures.
Edit: I cleaned up the thread, we had our fun, it’s not nice to hijack a new blog.

Wow. Even blown up this large - and it is a bit too large - the paint job looks great. It does look like you got a bit of red on a couple of armour scales, but I doubt that would be visible in real life anyway. The glowing rune on the shield is a particularly nice touch.

Now a different rune on every shield idea is very entertaining but i worry if it will mess with the unison look. But then again they are chaos so what do they care?

No neeed to worry about that! The armor and weapons are the main blocks of colour on the miniatures - that'll create a lot of unison. The runes (done in the same colours) will add some difference. Try to paint 5 with different runes. And 5 with the same rune. I you have 40 you'll need at least 5 Runes of Hashut anyway.
That let'll you see what works best for you.

The rune is very good. Don`t think different runes will do harm to the consistency, as Bloodbeard said.
Personally I would place the rune more to the center of the shield. Good luck for further progress!

Lovely choice of colours, it looks heavy metal so to speak. And great rune! Am I seeing wrong, or isn’t it in the shield’s center already? The cut-out portion of the shield could fool eyes in that regard.

I think they will look far better with a variety of runes. Even if you just twist that one rune around and move it round the shield etc.
That can be the ‘chaos’ part of chaos dwarfs

wow thanks for all the support, i’ll paint up some more guys this weekend. I’m between painting chaos dwarfs and 1000 points of my chaos marines for a 40 tournament i have coming up and then i can focus primarily on my chaos dwarfs.

Speaking of chaos marines, have you thought about making a Dark Apostle for Chaos dwarfs? I know there is no such title officially, but the role they serve in word bearers and CD fluffwise would be appropriate. Plus it’s a cool theme for an army general…

the making of a dark apostle for my chaos dwarfs. I am browsing the book between painting and assembling and have yet to see mention of religion besides that dwarfs make great sacrifices to Hashut.
As for chaos i play word bearers and they are beautiful. I have tons of people say i should post them online. Thinking about starting a blog for them as well. I have things like dead marines pinned to the sides of tanks kind of detail.

i know the rune for Hashut, but what other ones would you suggest? i would like them to actually represent the group.

The one I’m using in Tamurkhan is the Ash Spoil/ Worthless one, which ironically (given my advice earlier), I’m using as the only rune on my bare shields. I only have something like 5% bare shields in my army though, the rest all have symbols sculpted on.
Seems quite appropriate given the fluff of the Infernal Guard.

So spent a week severing chaos dwarf arms at the waist and then moving them and their hands in order to get these little bastards to rank up. Now i can finally post a family shot of a 10 man squad.
