I was a still a Fireman on that day in 2001 but at my full time job, never forget the day: a perfect September day without a cloud in the sky. Same weather downstate in NYC.

I have my FDNY T-shirt on today as a tribute, rest peace to all of the 343, regardless of politics, or what happened after they did what they were trained to do, to put their own lives on the line so others might live. To paraphrase from the move Excalibur “(They) were what was best in men”.

RIP brothers and I’ll see you at the Last Alarm.
