TheHoodedMan:

Battle against Ogres

Run of the battle (lists and thoughts see previous posts)

Zarrek prayed to Hashut absolutely concentrated, despite the wild roars heared through the morning mists. He knew that the Father of Darkness would guide him safely through this battle against the strong slaves of the north…

Dice luck changed sides from turn to turn.
We both had only a handful models in the last turn, I lost the BSB and Rocket Launcher against the odds and didnt get the one last iron gut.

So I had to be satisfied with the outcome.

The list was ok and under the given comp I wouldn`t change very much.

TheHoodedMan:

P.S.:

Perhaps some of you remember the 2hour video batt rep from Tenebre :)?

@Tenebre: Thank you, I saw there the round dice board; it fascinated me and I bought one myself and Im very glad I did this!
Its really very very useful.

You can see it in a few of the pics above.

Lazerus:

Nice Battrep :cheers

You mean the Gorger (Verschlinger) But he can not come in first round. You must roll for him up to the second round.

TheHoodedMan:

Next game is scheduled against High Elves today evening.

What is to expect?

The HE player likes to play regiments, I expect white lions and silver helms, one of them with banner of the world dragon, dragon princes (flame ward), a wizard on foot in the white lions, a monster rider with a flame ward, perhaps the frost phoenix and some eagles to delay me.

It`s a difficult match up and I still have to think about my army.

Abecedar:

Good luck.

In the classic words of "private Rico " - “Kill Them, Kill Them All”

TheHoodedMan:

BATTLE AGAINST HIGH ELVES

This time we met at Andreas`Home. He has a huge collection of armies (nearly everything but chaos dwarfs) and is an experienced tournament player who is leading our local league with about 16 pts averag per game (20 is max. per game, 10 is a draw. Myself averages at 11).

TheHoodedMan:

Report is finished :cheers

Abecedar:

Nice report, thanks for sharing.

Bloodbeard:

Your reports have improved a lot Hood. Very good read. Quick, well described, good pictures.

And what a great battle! Considering your point averages, you did good.

I hate purple sun.

Only wish for improvement: both armies are excellent painted. Some close up action shots would be neat. Like a khan stopping som dragon princes.

TheHoodedMan:

It was a great and tense battle indeed!

Thanks for appreciation, you are right, some close up shots would be great.

Next battle against lizardmen is scheduled on August 13th.

TimothyLeighton:

This thread makes me wish my army was painted/I played more warhammer.

Great to see a good looking CD army in action. You have pushed me even closer to breaking my ‘no more buying until it’s all painted’ resolve and buying some Khans on Wolves.

Keep up the good work!

TheHoodedMan:

Thank you. Some people I play have really good looking armies, so we push each other to complete the played models. I took part in some paint pledges, such as at the moment on cdo as well. This helped me to stick to my painting plans.
http://www.chaos-dwarfs.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=15773

Hobgoblin Khans on wolf are really worth it. The guys rock, believe me (If you can shoot at say a Iron Gut Star two rounds more with magma, hellcannon, iron demon that`s worth the sacrifice of two brave khans for sure :-)).

Galka:

Again congratulation. I was really suprised you made a draw. Thought you will get beaten up.

Finally we found some time for our matchup. It’s pretty hard with nightshift gladly i became a day off. Maybe i can get a draw too. My average points value is pretty low. I belive 6.4, so a draw would be a win for me. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

TheHoodedMan:

Today game against Galka above :cheers with Lizardmen.
No plan today. There will be some poison-skinks and a powerful mage-slann.

My force will not give anything away easily.

Lvl 4 Hashut on bale taurus, preservation, enchanted shield, scroll
BSB with mask, great weapon
Tauruk, Blackshard, GW, Dragon helm, dawnstone
Tauruk, Blackshard, charmed shield, sword of swift slaying

23 Fireglaives, full command, banner of swiftness
30 Hobgoblin, bows, shields, full command

6 Bull centaur renders, GW, full command, gleaming pennant

1 Kdaii destroyer

No war machines, lets get some bloody fighting !!!

TheHoodedMan:

Chaos Dwarfs vs. Lizardmen

Lists see above

Magic

The lizards got a lot of double rolls and chose the hard spells out of Light and Shadow.

Myself managed (again) not to get the most important spell (Ashstorm). I got Flames of Azgorh, Burning Wrath, Hellhammer (not bad against lizards) and changed Dark Subjugation to “Breath of Hatred”.

Deployment

No advance moves. Light Slann in temple guard (BSB), Etheral shadow slann solo Chamaeleon skinks in my right flank (infiltration).

CDs: BSB in infernals, Tauruks in BC.

End of battle

Battle went halfway like planned. The points of the warmachines and the daemonsmith went into the Bull centaurs which were definitely a factor in this match.
Especially the Heroes payed out. But not to forget I had lots of luck that I had some spells through against the strong magic defense of the Slann (and nearly unharmed by miscast) and some good melees with lots of hits and one important ld check for the BCs made on 6.
My fireglaives and archers did nearly no shooting damage, but that didnt matter in the end.

2742 : 385 in the end for Hashut`s loyal followers (20:0).

Some facts:

We played about 4 hours easy going. This was my first match against lizardmen with chaos dwarfs.

TheHoodedMan:

Today evening is the battle against wood elves at the Elf players home. He is a very calm and skilled player. I dont expect any living wood, only elves.

Ill let you know how it went and what lists were used but probably there will not be a full scale report this time because work tires me a lot at the moment.

But at least Im very confident that our 8th edition league will start in a further round in autumn :cheers, probably with changed players and armies line up. Well see what kind of comp will be used; this will eventually decide if I try with chaos dwarfs again :hat off.

TheHoodedMan:

Short Battle report:

This was Volkers Wood Elf list as I remember it:

14 Glade riders with arrows which always hit on 3.
2 x 8 Glade riders with poison arrows
2 x 8 wild riders
2 x 8 waywatchers
2 x 1 eagle
3 eagle riders
1 BSB mounted (special bow with multiple shot)
1 lvl 4 white magic mounted (MR 3, magic scroll)
1 lvl 4 shadow on foot

My list:
27 IG, Full Command
21 IG, Musician, Standard
2 Rocket Launcher
2 Iron Demon, hellbound
1 Hellcannon
Lvl 1 fire, MR 2, channeling staff
Lvl 1 fire, scroll
Lvl 4 fire, general, preservation, earthing rod, enchanted shield, rolled the channeling weapon.
BSB, gw, mask, luckstone

(My thoughts were to give him so few easy points as possible, so I choose no hobgoblins. The shriekers are gone fast, too, but are generally very effective against low armour/T3 troops.)

I cornered on the right side with the iron demons at the left side.
In the run of the battle I had a dominance in the first three magic phases with lots of hits with fireballs and the flame cage spell, which was very important.
Three fire mages were VERY good in this game.

The iron demons were powerful and killed the fist 16 glade riders and one eagle. The hellcannon hit the wild riders with general and BSB and forced him to stay behind and change the chars to another unit (14 glade riders). Later it hit the lone shadow mage directly on his elvish head :yar and killed him.
The shriekers were not so effective and were the first to be killed on my side through glade riders and later wild riders who slipped through.
My other major losses were through malfunctions.
Both the iron demon (double malfunction, then rolled "1") and the hellcannon (malfunction, reroll: malfunction, then "1") gone in turn 2 and 3 without enemy interference...

The other ID was bound in battle with the eagle riders, so I was reduced to cast spells in the last three turns. I was successful in preventing a combined charge (with the flame cage spell) and he then only tried to kill something with ranged attacks.
Volker had no luck in his magic phases, didnt even need my scroll.

3 times fire and 2 iron demons were definitely a menace for the Wood elves.

In the end it was 1238 : 720 for Hashut`s minions. It was a real fun game and we both had some laughs during the evening.

:hat off

TheHoodedMan:

Today evening I will play a battle with two new people, I hope it gets down to a Triumph and Treachery, 2000 pts each.

I dont know exactly what the other guys play and decided for a straight forward close combat list :).

Lvl 4 Hashut, General, preservation, enchanted shield, earthing rod
Tauruk, GW, blackshard, dragonhelm, dawnstone
Tauruk, blackshard, charmed shield, luckstone, swift slaying sword
1 Khan on Wolf, Spear
19 IG, Fireglaives, Full command, gleaming pennant
25 Hobgoblins, bows, M,S
4 Bull Centaur Renders, M, S, standard of discipline
1 Kdaii destroyer
5 wolf riders, Standard, spears

TheHoodedMan:

Battle is over and it was a really nice evening with Michael and Ungi, two very relaxed and skilled players. We played Triumph and Treachery, the first scenario (100 points for the player next to the table middle at the end of each turn), 2000 pts armies.

It was quite a close game and we all found the multi player rules very fitting. There are cards added to give an additional dimension to the game and the multiplayer mechanics work well.
(We played without mercenaries this time).

The others played:
Ogres: 2 blocks ironguts, 1 cannon, 3 Maneaters, 3 mournfangs, 1 lvl 2 beast preservation, 1 lvl 4 great maw, general, 1 BSB hero, 1 hero.

Empire: 19 inner circle knights, 30+ great weapons, steam tank, 3 demigryphs, BSB, sigmar priest, mage all on foot, sigmar priest, mage both mounted.

We played unrestricted but you see all the lists werde tough but not overpowered.

(maybe there will be some photos, will update the thread the next days).
