I started an army blog on here a while ago and then revisited it about 18 months ago, but due to moving (and having to leave all my stuff) I’ve not been on since. Anyway, I’m back and am making a new start to things.
I’ve finished my first Chaos Dwarf Warrior, so once I figure out my new camera I’ll put up some pics of the green before I paint it.
I have Daemon Prince wings and they’re not big enough for my conversion, so I thought those might be better.
I’m also juggling ideas for a Lammasu and a greater daemon type model, so they’ll be making appearances shortly too. I don’t move again for another 6 months, so hopefully IO can get some proper work done on the project this time.
Cheers, Kera. I actually think I have a pair of those wings at my other house, so I may be able to have a look at how they fit. I have the new Deathclaw wings for my Lammasu, which I’m hoping are large enough. We shall see.
In other news, I just picked up the Tamurkhan book. At first glance, the CD list is a bit disappointing, but the book itself is beautiful. The main Legion tactic seems to be to hold the enemy with hard to kill units and then hit them with a Destroyer - it might get dull.
Hey Grimstone. I’m not really all that fussed about base-size, I’m more worried about the ‘look’ of the thing. I was considering puting it on a smaller base and having that slot into the large base though, so it’s all “game legal”.
I’m doing another Stonehorn conversion for my Lammasu as well (the Stonehorn is a great model to work with), so that’s going to have the same problem. Again, I may either put it on a smaller base that slots onto a larger one, or magnetise the feet so I can swap bases as needed.
The problem with the smaller bases is that the Stonehorn is a bit static as a model, so I’ve tried to add a bit of ‘flow’ to it by changing the angles and it really needs a wide bas to give it the desired movement.

Are those the arms from the giant? I’m beginning conversion work on my Lamassu using the Bale taurus, and thinking those might be the ticket - if that’s what those are, I am totally sold.
Khedyarl - No, they’re not giant arms. I took the hands from the Beastmen Ghorgon kit and sliced off the hooves from the Stonehorn’s front legs. Then I cut away pieces of the torso so that I could rotate the socket joints to change the angle of the legs and create ‘arms’ and ‘shoulders’. For note though, the Ghorgon arms were about the right size on that model if I’d wanted to use them - so they would produce a similar effect. The giant’s arms are a bit thinner, so I avoided them.
Kronosv13 - Cheers. I made that from spare bits and then found it’s very similar to a piece of the art work in Tamurkhan (on the first page of the Chaos Dwarf Bestiary) where people hang over a burning pit with a bull’s head above them. I was going to add a bowl of fire to it’s back so it looked like a sacrifice to Hashut, so it’s a bit weird how that has fit with the images in the book even though I hadn’t seen the picture before. I was going to put a throne and small shrine on the back of the Lammasu, but I’m having a rethink.
Tjub - I like big monsters (and I cannot lie - sorry, bad joke). At the moment the Lammasu is looking a bit too much like a Bloodthirster, bu once I sculpt the face and swap the wings for the new ones I’ve ordered that will hopefully change.
