Yes it is. You can either use them as Chaos Dwarfs or exclusively as Abyssal Dwarfs and it’s still okay.

Go for it. I just started and army blog building a KoW abyssal dwarf army using a complete mish-mash of models and manufacturers. There is quite a bit of reference to KoW on CDO from what I have scene. Looking forward to seeing your army. Cheers,
