[Archive] Action horror films?

Grimstonefire:

It strikes me that compared to the incredible depths of horror that could be evoked in film using warhammer or 40k material, film makers these days are hopeless in actually portraying horror in films that step largely into the action film genre as well.

Films like saw have gore and impending doom etc. But not exactly action.

The aliens films are pretty cool as they do have it in, they cross both.

But imagine an 18 rated tyranid invasion, or fantasy daemon attack etc

I’d love to see more films even close to this, any suggestions of ones to watch?

Willmark:

Aliens as you mention. Army of darkness maybe?

Dînadan:

There?Ts one about Scottish werewolves; think it?Ts called something like ?~Dog Soldiers?T maybe? Don?Tt really recall as I only saw it once years ago. Not sure if it fits as I don?Tt recall much about it but fairly sure it had a good mix of action and suspense.
