[Archive] All Chaos Dwarf 2250 Tournament List

CaseusVincoDuos:

Hey Guys,

I’ve decided to post one of the army lists that I have been thinking of creating. One of the memebers of our local gaming club runs a chaos dwarf list with many sorcerers, blunderbusses and deathrockers and earthshakers, So i have tryed to veer off that and play a more Comabt Orriented chaos dwarf army so here it is.

I’m thinking of shifting some points so that my lord is a dwarf lord on a great taurus.

I’m just wondering how the Chalice of Darkness works - If I used it in the enemies magic phase do the dice come out of my dispell pool aswell of magic pool etc.

I would like any comments/critisms that anyone has.

Cheers, :cheers

Baggronor:

Yeah the chalice isn’t good unless you have substantially more dice than your opponent. All it will achieve for you is to sap your dispel dice.

I’m not sure about a Taurus, it would make a very obvious target in an army who’s strength is weight of numbers.

With an infantry army of this nature, I would definitely recommend a Battle standard, you need to hold that line together. I think the infantry blocks need some fighting support from characters too, they will be hard pressed to beat enemy elites. A BSB would help a lot with that too  As you have so many T4 troops, Im not sure magic defence is that much of a concern.

Maybe try a sorcerer lord, he can do all the magic defence and provide Ld10, then throw 4 dice into a big spell each turn.

I think the obsidian blade is a waste for a BC lord, I would recommend a simple great weapon, sword of might or the Black Hammer. I found BC heroes were good enough myself.

And put a Warbanner in there somewhere :cheers

Swissdictator:

Personally I love fielding the Great Taurus, but that is me. I love my Great Taurus with Hammer of Hashut and Enchanted Shield. Kills Treemen Dead. I did run one when I going pure CD and was pleased, if they shoot him up, your other stuff’s not getting shot.

I’m not a fan of the Chalice, unless I’m going with more magic then you. Giving one of your wizards that item that causes the bearer and opponent to do nothing for a round of combat is nice, especially if you do go with a Sorcerer Lord. Alternately a Power stone and/or scroll helps.

I’ve tended to run my Centaurs in units of 5. Sure, they might be a little more of a paper tiger, but a panic check or if I wiff on a turn and flee it’s less points endangered. Plus two units = more threats to shoot/magic at. You’ll need to use them in tandem with a units a little better. Though I can see why running a unit of 10 is often preferred… plus it looks imposing.

However, the way you’re running has the added benefit of being able to take casualties… and if they shoot at the Taurus you’ll have a rank. I might run them 6 wide, as you’ll always get alll 6 in unless something gets in the way. Plus, one guy down and you lose the rank anyways. The extra 2 or 3 attacks helps. Also if you stay big, squeeze in a Musician. They are a godsend.

Great call on the GW units being a little smaller. The Hw/Sh units are the perfect size for my tastes, so :cheers . I’d lose the standards on the GW units, those are easy VPs, same with the Blunderbuss. Generally if the Blunderbuss in combat either you had a nice opportunity charge or they’re in danger… I’d swap it out for a musician possibly.

Baggronor is right: Warbanner is an awesome option for us. It really is, we depend on static res. So a BSB is nice too, especially with our awesome leadership.

Overall it’s has some echoes of how I ran mine in the past. I like it, I’d probably fine tune it a bit is all.

CaseusVincoDuos:

hey guys,

Thanks for the replies - the general consensus is - need a BSB - possibly drop the bull centaur lord for a sorcerer lord or great taurus - drop the standards on the blunderbusses and great weapons - possibly making the bull centaurs 2 units instead of one.

I’ll make some changes to the list and post it up tomorrow.

Cheers :cheers

A BC lord with Black hammer and armour of the furnace (S7 is nice) or sword of striking, gauntlet’s and armour of the furnace (hitty but risky) is better. As said get a BSB and offencive units like black orc’s, hobgob wolf’s
