Vogon:
Hi guys.
It’s Sunday morning and I’m sat having a coffee and a read before the kids get up and noticed the following in the new white dwarf magazine. In the Codex: Apocrypha section there is a small section titled The Wars of the Lost
Veteran warriors show the horrific burns they sustained in the Magmadroth Peaks, where the banners of eight daemon legions were raised over the bodies of the brave. Only the arrival of a stampede of Lava-beasts ridden by strange Duardin bought time enough for a few good men to escape.
Now I think the assumption is that Duardin are the AOS equivalent of dwarfs and if they’re riding lava beasts could they be Chaos Dwarfs now fighting against Chaos (to further their own ends obviously)?
Just a thought and if not then could these lava-beasts be used as Kdaai?
Cheers
Vogon
Bloodbeard:
Very interesting news indeed!
Thommy H:
Oh yeah, I spotted that yesterday. It’s obviously a hint of something in the pipeline for dwarfs…duardin…whatever… I doubt there’ll be a direct connection to the Chaos Dwarfs of the Warhammer world (only gods and Incarnates seem to have found their way into the Mortal Realms) but they might be similarly themed. There was a rumour about Hashut being mentioned in the new background wasn’t there?
BeeZharr:
Alas, I think these will be the Red Slayers that have been mentioned, and not what we’re all hoping for…
Thommy H:
The Red Slayers are human mercenaries.

Unfortunately the rumour about Hashut being mentioned in the new background was part of the same set of rumours that declared the world was called Regalia, Orcs were known as Waaghkin, etc.
i.e. it was made up. Sorry.

Lets wait…
This message was automatically appended because it was too short.

Wrongo! That was speculation based on the fact that the free peoples were not mentioned in the paragraph describing the forces of order.
Watch the GW AoS trailer. 26 seconds in you see a Red Slayer. Duardim come from a fiery realm and the new models refect that. The red slayer is jumping off of a lava beast. You have to look close but you can make out the arms and claws at the lower left part of the screen.
Thommy H:
Oh yeah. Fair enough then - it’s probably referring to them.
Heavygear:
The aesthetic and theme of the models is starting to remind me of the new Clash of the Titans movies. The factions are becoming demigod like. More focus on the different pantheons of Warhammer. I admit I didn’t care for those movies. I’m not sure I care for this either. None of the models so far have been must haves. Maybe the dwarfs will be different.
Doombeard:
Well, if they are taking a dwarf slayer and making him into some kind of Magic-Demonic-Fire-Dwarf riding on the back of a K’daai-type-Lava-Monster, then it sounds like they are merging together chaos and vanilla dwarf aesthetics and I want some of whatever the hell it is they’ve been smoking because it must be some pretty strong shit. Other than that I’ll pass =)

The Stormcast Eternals are growing on me quite a bit. I mean, they're literally,
literally Space Marines, right down to how they're recruited and made - in fact, from the POV of Marine aspirants (often kept in a state of barbarism) you don't even have to change the wording of the fluff from Fantasy to 40K!
But even so, I find the setting kind of appealing in all its gonzo madness. The vaguely comic dark fantasy niche was just too...well...niche. Might as well go all in with Marvel MU Asgardian aesthetics on a hyperbolic scale.
Dînadan:

Heavygear
Now that's unfair - the Sigmarines are must haves...
for my true scale pre-Heresy Thousand Sons project...

I can tell from your posts you are into it. I wish I felt the same. There was a lot about the old world I didn't like. Like you said "vaguely comic". Stormhosts/Spacemarines are super heroes. I guess everyone wants to be a super heroe. I just don't feel that way. I liked the old sword and sorcery feel of the old Warhammer. It is a different genre. Its like comparing Game of Thrones or The Hobbit with the Thor movie or Clash of the Titans.
cornixt:
I preferred it when Chaos Warriors were the only super-humans around. A shame when 6th edition neutered them so much.

Any German members want to give a more complete picture of this paragraph? :hat off

Ok so it seems that GW finally decide to merge
Chaos dwarf aesthetic with the dwarf
In order to make those new duardin
…don’t know what to think about that
