This is a WIP guide to playing CD’s in AoS and getting the best experience out of using them vs other armies, think of it as a compendium of useful info and army guide.
MC1 Gamer has some great AoS army warscroll guide videos where he goes through them with Tom, breaking down each army and analysing the warscrolls in depth, each video is usually 1-2hrs
You know, I’m really getting excited about giving AOS a try. The games short comings are obvious, but there are a lot of things I don’t think I considered. Any of you out there having positive experiences? I’m thinking as I creep back into gaming I may try to play this along side either 8th or 9th.
I’ve played one game and, despite going into it with trepidation as well as utter contempt for what had happened to WFB… I had a blast. We played a scenario, which I believe makes it a bit more fun and interesting.
I’ve played quite a few games of AoS with my Chaos Dwarves now, and it’s always been a blast. Playing a scenario really is key to a positive experience. What I want to know is how they survived the World That Was exploding. Having that clear in my own head well help my narrative massively.
So far I’ve come up with the K’Daai Oracle gathered then about himself when his bonds were broken wuth the death of the world. After eons of torment clutched to the Oracle’s bosom they were deposited in the Realm of Fire where they found a land ripe for enslavement.
I haven’t read the fluff, but I heard it hints at Khorgoraths basically being ex-k’daai, made by the Zharr , who were mutated in the end times/destruction of the old world into something new. This also fits in perfectly with the Chaos Dwarf Keyword in the LoA warscrolls being Zharr Goroth which is a similar sounding name. And ironically fits in with the old K’daai model being re-appropriated to make a new Great Khorgorath model. This paves the way forward for the Zharr in the future and leaves the door open to future design options
Just a made-up one I think. Pretty simple. There were 3 fallen warpstone meteorites near the centre of the board. Capturing and holding them was worth points. One of them (randomly selected) explodes at the start of turn 3, harming those around it.
Thanks for the link to the youtube video. I’ve been playing that while I work all week. I have gotten some strange looks from the dogs, but then again I usually do.
