As it would be a good source of models to base conversions on I thought I’d copy the link over here. Check this out.

Just beat me to it.
Looks interesting. About time they started making regular troops.
gIL^:
If it were a CD army i would of put $200 in
Time of Madness:
They copied Mantic
Wonder how depressed GW will be when they see these companies raise upwards of $100,00.00. That is $100,00.00 not being spent on GW products.

zobo1942:
Smart, I think. They are selectively pre-selling products - and removing all the risk involved in investing a ton of money putting together a product nobody wants.
I think this is the future we’re seeing.
Bassman:
Yes, it’s a nice idea for many small companies like AoW. I will follow the project very close and, who knows, I’d make a contribution… the only note is a very short therm… dunno if they will gather enough money…
Kera foehunter:
I can support this and help out
Also i will pass this link on too
Vogon:
Nice idea there. I’ve seen a few companies do things like this now but I think the first one i was aware of was the Heresy miniatures Dragon (which are now starting to ship)
I shall have a closer investigation of this once I get home from work
Cheers

P.S. Does anyone know what this Warcast stuff is?
Admiral:
I won’t be able to contribute, but I hope AoW will reach all their goals. This dwarf army will be fantastic.
Shakhorth:
Supported it!
This message was automatically appended because it was too short.
clam:
Hopefully they will succeed. More dwarf alternatives are always nice
P.S. Does anyone know what this Warcast stuff is?WarCast is AoW’s own range of plastic-resin miniatures. WarCast miniatures is said to look and feel very much like plastic miniatures, but their detail definition should be as good as “pure resin” miniatures.

They copied ManticJust as much as Mantic have copied: CoolMiniorNot, Studio McVey, Weird West, Blackwater Gulch, Warploque etc. - all companies that have use this kind of fondraising to kickstart a project. Seems to be the new “trend”.

rpitts2004:
I have 60 of the slayers and the detail is amazing. On par if not better than GW plastic
snowblizz:
Maybe some who have bought the first sets - Slayers and Chaos Warriors can confirm the quality.Slayers are *real* plastic though so aren't really "comparable".

Admiral:
$ 3, 480 raised so far. I for one hope the short fundraising period clashing with, amongst others, Mantic won’t hinder this project from reaching at least $ 50,000. Dwarf female warriors would be nice, since there are no units available of them anywhere as far as I’m aware.
vulcanologist:
Hope this gets all the support it needs to succeed!
rpitts2004:
AoW models look much better than mantic.
snowblizz:
AoW models look much better than mantic.I agree, which to me is why it's somewhat unfortunate that Mantic is on Kickstarter at the same time. I'm sure AoW is losing out. Honestly not sure about the impact of the respective sites but Kickstarter is more known to me so I fancy it's got a bigger audience.

Grimstonefire:
Not that I’ve read into it, but is there some mechanism whereby the funding is only released to the firm if the target is met?
Otherwise what would stop firms collecting a load of cash then disappearing before selling anything? Not necessarily on purpose I should add, possibly going bankrupt.
Not that meeting the target would necessarily stop a business going bankrupt of course.
For the large amounts people could be sending in I personally would hope to get a Loan Note or some such thing, basically a legal document to say that you are a creditor and can recover your debt in goods or services as agreed at the point of lending if you so choose.
zobo1942:
On kickstarter, the financial transfer of the ‘pledge’ only occurs if the funding goal is met.
brotsorrow:
so this is my first glimpse of AoW figures… and im blown away by their lords and champions… Are dwarfs the first full army they are doing?
