[Archive] Appeal for Artwork

Scion:

You probably saw the thread a couple of months ago, but not many people popped in. Me and the team over at Furnace Games are endeavouring to create a free tabletop wargame in a fantasy setting (starting of with a skirmish game) available as an e-book.

But right now there is one valuable commodity we are rather short of. Awesome artwork and having seen the stuff that’s posted up in the artwork thread I know your not short of it here! :hat off

If your interested take a look at our forum and post: www.thefurnace.webs.com

P.S If you did look last time I’ve  updated the homepage to give more detailed information about the project.

Could people post if there interested please.

Baggronor:

to create a free version of warhammer (starting of with a skirmish game) available as an e-book.
Its probably not a good idea to refer to it as a free version of Warhammer. You know what GW are like...

Scion:

Ok then. “A free tabletop skirmish game in a fantasy setting”

mattbird:

You can use any of my stuff out of the Indy book.

Scion:

I’d love too, but sadly there aren’t any races (yet) which fit the CD theme. However could I be bold and ask for some new stuff :)?

Willmark:

TBQH- this is a laudable goal but it’s a mammoth undertaking. I think your best bet is to focus on getting rules solid first then focus on art and presentation.

kerbak:

Looks interesting, i will do my best to get in

mattbird:

I would love to, but don’t have the time…

:frowning:

Note that many artists will allow you to use thier artwork if it is non-profit, and if they are credited. Dan Scott, for instance, allows this:

Your best bet is finding existing art, and asking permission.

Scion:

@Willmark: I do know this is a mammoth undertaking and have been told so several times, so you’ll be pleased to know we’ve made good progress (which has ground to a halt recently) We have the basic rules framework almost complete and I’m currently formatting it into the trial skirmish game book. The thing we lack is ideas for each race. Artwork directly correlates to the development of each race - as it gives the readers (and myself) a lot more picture about each race. Hope that explains my reasoning.

@mattbird: It’s a shame. But a soon as you do, feel free to come and pay us a visit. Thanx for the link by the way. It looks like amazing artwork, if he’ll do some that would be awesome. I’ve spent hours trawling the net for existing artwork. Our rather unique (some would say crazy) look on the traditional discounts a lot of stuff.

mattbird:

hi, just to be clear- Dan Scott will not do any artwork for you. He simply let’s you use art on his site for non-profit stuff.

as for “Our rather unique (some would say crazy) look on the traditional”, surely you are limited by what existing model ranges have to offer?

Scion:

Oh okay. Never mind then…

But as for the look on our race, there not so wacky realy. Merely celtic elves, viking dwarves (which isn’t radical really) and greek/roman style men.

Baggronor:

Well, if you have any vampires in it, you’re welcome to use my pics I do for the Invocation webzine:

Unfortunately I don’t have anything else that might fit.

They don’t sound wacky at all, should be easy to match figure ranges to them.

Thorne:

Hey Baggronor is that chalk and paint ? Looks like some of the things I did for my art A levels in chalk and paing on paper and canvas. That female vamps quite cool.

Baggronor:

Its white paint on black paper with some photoshop texture added later.

Scion:

Really nice pics. But sadly no Vampires yet. Don’t suppose you have any pikemen or Tilean soldiers you’ve done at all?

warh:

Baggronor those are awsome!!!

Baggronor:

Don't suppose you have any pikemen or Tilean soldiers you've done at all?
Sadly no. I specialise in supernatural types and nutters :cheers
Baggronor those are awsome!!!
Thank you :)
