My planned conversion. What is good to make a carpet out of and how do you think it should be painted? I might see if I can make it on fire or something. Supercharged Arabian Carpet!

That’s actually not a bad idea as a count as! I think i’d need to sculpt/convert something from scratch though for a jetpack.

My friend has an Ogre on an Arabyan carpet. I can get you pictures for it next week if you want. The whole thing is made of greenstuff If I remember correctly.

Kera thats a cool carpet, is it from your house?! I don’t think I would paint it that detailed though unfortunately

There’s an old Ral Partha mini of a dude on a flying carpet, complete with flight stand. If one looks on E-bay, they turn up occasionally.
A rocket-surfer would be really cool though. I’d think you’d want something a bit bigger than the Hellstorm firecrackers though.

I’am at the moment building an araby army and use these cool models from Blackt Tree Design (or BTD miniatures).

It may be too late to catch you before you start your GS attempts, but if you put some talcom powder or flour down on the surface where you’re working the GS will stick to that instead of the work surface. From there roll out a big glob of GS into a flat piece as thick as you want the carpet and leave it to harden for a while. If you want to take a knife and cut away extra so you end up with a rectangle, now is probably a good time to do it. After you’re let it sit for a while you can peel it off (carefully) and start to put some folds into it. You can slide old pieces of sprue or paint brushes or what have you and the rug will sag leaving waves in it.
I’ve made banners out of GS following this method and it’s worked very well. Banners are the same concept, but not as thick. If you wanted to add tassels onto the corners once the carpet itself has fully hardened, you could probably do that too.

Does the talcom or flour leave any markings you would need to clean up or smooth out on the surface of your banners, Immortal, or is it fine enough that it just acts like a surface? I’m interested in giving that it whirl.

i have the archer on flying carpet model from btw. This one to be precise. I'd like to warn you that, although the model is pretty cool, the carpet bit has a huge gap in the middle for the mini to slot in. That's pretty dumb if you ask me. If i were to use GS, i'd do the carpet all by myself and it was the patterns on the carpet which mattered the most for me and the pattern will not be as good after i fix the model.
