Narunac:
Hello together.
I’m new here and i need your advice. (I’m from Germany, so please forgive any typos
)
Our Club is planing a Warhammer Fantasy Scenario and I thought about fielding my new Chaos Dwarf Army.
My problem is, that I have no idea how to equip my characters and which units are useful.
At my disposal are:
A Lord on Great Taurus
A Mage on Lammasu
A Hero on foot with handweapon/shild
The Avatars of War Chaos Dwarf with two-handed hammer
2 Sorcerers
1 Astragoth
1 Bull Taurus with Battle Standard
1 Bull Taurus Hero
2x25 Blunderbusses
3x20 Chaos Dwarfs with full Command
2x25 Hobgoblins with full Command
2x10 Hobgoblins with Bows
2 Deathrockets
4 Hobgoblin Boltthrowers
20 Black Orcs with full Command
20 Sneaky Gits with full Command
2 Earthshaker
8 Bull Taurus with full Command
My opponents will field Wood Elves (1 who only field “mortals”, so no Treeman, dryads, etc. and 1 who field a “normal” Wood Elf army) and an Army of Bretonia. Together they field 10k Points.
My “Allies…” :o are Dark Elves (3k or 4k Points) and Skaven (3k Points).
So depending on the points the Dark Elf has at his disposal I field 3k or 4k points.
My only games until today where 1,5k or 2k points so I seek your knowledge what will be a good and ugly
army.

Hi there,
You have a good selection of troops to choose from - however before suggesting an army list to you it would help to understand how you like to play e.g. sit back and shoot or march forward aggressivley or Magic heavy or a mix of them all ?
cheers

Swissdictator:
Ubertechie is right, your playstyle is important.
A few things that will always be in the army: You’ll need 4-5 Chaos Dwarf infantry units depending on if you go 3 or 4k. I strongly recommend any Hw/Sh blocks are fielded in 25 strong blocks. You’d be surprised how helpful that extra 5 goes to keeping outnumber, rank bonuses, simply keeping guys, etc. This REALLY helps you survive Bret charges, then bounce them off later.
I’m a big fan of Lord on Taurus with Black Hammer and Armour of the Furnace. Against the normal WE army this will help kill Treemen/Treekin. Be careful about placing him to avoid becoming a pincushion, but if they blast him your other stuff survives. If you have two shakers, use one to silence the WE shooting and the other to slow the Brets down. While I normally don’t advocate two shakers, but when you’re fielding up to 4k it seems much more acceptable.
Silencing their shooting via one Earth shaker, and delaying Brets with the other will allow your allies to soften them up significantly. DE can really deal with Brets between magic and shooting, delaying them will help big time. Skaven, might be ok, depending on his style… but the Shaker will allow him to function better regardless.
Blunderbuss will be a big help as skirmishing Elves gain no extra protection from being skirmishers against BB. So blast away those T3 (or T4 Dryads) hippies!
I actually recommend a small mix of Bolt Throwers and Death Rockets. When a Death Rocket lands in a formation of Brets it is far deadlier then a bolt thrower shot usually. While it can drift, it allows no armor saves and (with the exception of the one under the whole) doesn’t give the better ward. Plus with bolt thrower shots if the first knight makes a ward it stops the bolt. Where the DR template victims can make a ward or two and you can still kill a bunch. For the Bolt Thrower’s benefits it is more reliable in hitting and never misfires, plus it’s cheap and you can get a couple for the same cost. So I really advocate combined arms on this.
Also: Take both Hobgob units with bows. For the price, they’re a great deal. You’d be surprised how constant shooting from them can bring down any number of things (Knights, Orcs, etc).
Still, start with your mandatory Chaos Dwarf core choices. Then work your way up.
Narunac:
Thanks for the Quick Answers.
I think the 3 of us will have a big shooting army. The Skaven Player loves to play with many Jezzails, Lightning Cannons and Warlocks. The Dark Elf uses a great mix of Dragons, Boltthrowers, Cavalry, and Crossbows.
So I thought about using 2 Mages with Dispel Scrolls and Power Stones, the Mage Lord on Lammasu with either 1 Scroll and 1 Stone + Staff of Sorcery or 2 Stones and 2 scrolls.
In addition the Great Taurus (no idea about Equipment, but the suggestions are pretty nice), a Bull Army Standard, a Bull Hero with 2handed weapon and +2 S Braceltes?
Core would be something like either 3x20 Chaos Dwarf + 2x15 Blunderbusses or 2x25 Chaos Dwarfs + 2x15 Blunderbusses. Then 2x10 Hobgobbos with Bows, 2x 25 Hobgoblins (naked).
Elites choices would be 2xDeathrockets, 2 Boltthrower
Special: 2 Earthshaker, 8 Bulltaurus.
Depending on the points I would add:
(in this order)
20-25 Black Orcs
Another Mage
20 Sneaky Gits
What do you think? I will calculate the exact points tomorrow. Maybe the other players will have their army lists ready until Thursday, so i can post them as well.

Narunac
Looks pretty solid - dwarf warriors want to be in blocks of 25 with full command.
Blunderbusses (for me) work best in units of 15 ( 5 * 3) with a standard
Otherwise - work out the points you have left and we can suggest some tweaks for you
