[Archive] Artisan's Contest XV - Voting!

Admiral:

Artisan Contest XV

As outlined here this is the voting thread for Artisans Contest XV. 7 entries is not bad at all for a summer contest, so well done everyone who entered. Gold, silver and bronze medals for Artisan’s Contest will be awarded. Also, all participants will receive 7 slaves.

Voting

Please submit 3 numbers as votes by sending a PM to Staff (a special account which all Staff members can access).

Additionally, as always, when you cast votes you must vote for your 3 favorite entries. Each (more or less) anonymous entry below is numbered ranging from 1 to 7. After one week, we will post the results. All staff will have access to the votes if you have a problem with the voting or have questions as to how to vote, likewise, contact one of us.

There is no need to specify which one you think is 1st, 2nd or 3rd. Simply list the three that you like we will do the rest.

Rules
Voting will close on July 24th at 11:59pm EST

In no particular order, here are the 7 entries for the contest:

Entry #1 [attachment=4402]

Entry #2 [attachment=4403]

Entry #3 [attachment=4404]

Entry #4 [attachment=4405]

Entry #5 [attachment=4406]

Entry #6 [attachment=4407]

Entry #7

Admiral:

Yeah! Nice!

Although there just seven entries I cannot choose my favorites at the moment.

One question in direction to Entry #7: It looks very nice but what kind of magic marker should that be?

Herby
Yeah, we've got nice entries all around!

Entry #7 is a catch-all magic marker for Chaos Dwarfs, although it sure looks like Final Transmutation from Lore of metal to me. :)

Bloodbeard:

Votes are in. Interesting entries this time. All very different from each other.

Can there be more than one winner? With only seven entries and three votes per member there’s a much larger chance for ties.

More of Admirals beautiful flayed men for everyone!

Good work by the way, was up quickly.

Admiral:

Good morning Sir! :hat off

A catch-all magic marker for Chaos Dwarfs now that's great. :)

"...although it sure looks like Final Transmutation from Lore of metal to me."  yeah could be. And it turned into gold. :)

Herby
Good morning! True. :)

Bloodbeard
Yes, we've got great variey, and all fits well for Chaos Dwarfs. :cheers

There will be more flaymen if there are ties, rest assured about that. Flaymen are quick to do, so no problem.

here might also be a marathon of many short Artisan's Contests after the upcoming Golden Hat, for the sake of promoting the CD culture stuff project. We need more variety and contributions before we can give it all audios and whip up a "CDO presents: ..." for it all.

So then you'd have Chaos Dwarf songs (text, one separate audio contest might be attempted as a pure experiment), Hobgoblin Songs, CD famous quotes, Hobgoblin famous quotes, CD monument inscriptions, Hobgoblin monument graffiti, religious chanting, a short legend, maybe a translate-something-cool-into-Khaozalid contest...

The list goes on, but what's common for all these planned contests are the miniature prizes. I'll have to stock up on materials for flaymen if the marathon gets green light. :)

Golden Hat XXI's voting thread will probably take much more time to set up, since it lands in the start of my autumn studies. But we'll try to get some speed there, too!

Admiral:

AND ANOTHER THING

Please also hand over the silver and bronze medal.

We had at least one competition in the past below the limit of 10 entries. And still there was a silver and a bronze medal.
It would be really nice. Why just offering the gold? Please Admiral and the whole staff team.

What do you say?

Herby
We had? Could you please link to it, I'll change my mind at first sight then. :)

This voting thread was modeled upon previous Artisan's Contests, and those I looked at had no silver and bronze medals below 10 entries.

MadHatter:

And it turned into gold. :)

Herby
Final Transmutation really breaks the economy of WHFB, what where they thinking? People will just have to deal in warpstone instead and that's the end of the old world :)

MadHatter:

Votes are in, awesome entries.

@Admiral: I’m sure there are some of us who would like to see an expansion of the culture stuff, perhaps have open donations for a pricepool? I’ll contribute some stuff…

Admiral:

@Herby: Nice! It’s fixed, now.

@MadHatter: That’s a really good idea! We’ll have to prepare for the CD culture contest marathon. Let’s look at it in a few days’ time or so.

Also, I’ll of course start writing new stuff for the fluff section once the demands of future tournaments are less demanding, if coming studies allow it.

Perhaps you should get Nicodemus to make a special fluffish medal for these competitions.

Now that's a nice idea, if Nicodemus wants to do it. Should they be called something else than Artisan's Contest, too? Like "Scribe's Contests" or "Chronicler's Contests"? That way they won't cause havoc with the AC numbering, because there are a lot of them planned for the marathon.

Admiral
That's the idea. As Artisans Competition is a big one and shouls require a fair deal of efford. It seems to be a lot faster to make up quotes, mantras, small songs etc. Unless we are dealing in short stories and the like. Just a thought. Otherwise a few mwmber would end up wirh 10 Artisan medals by december.

I agree, I could picture different aswell for writing (scribes?) and voice-acting/singing (bards sounds to elfish imho) etc. aswell. Perhaps having such numbered ones or a limit to one per member (like the wiki one?)

Admiral
How about something like "Scholar's Contest"?

torn:

Put my vote in. I really like 6 the best. It just feels magical, like the spell markers are slightly demonic and slightly humanoid but at the same time not. It was hard to pick just 3 as they were all good.

Fuggit Khan:

Great entries all!

I love all of them, although one of them stands out as my clear favorite…just sent in my votes (it was really hard to narrow my favorites down to just 3)…good luck everybody :cheers

And thank you Admiral for getting this voting thread together so fast

Abecedar:

well done all the contestants, Its always hard choosing between entries. No rushing into voting for me. I’ll sleep on it some for maybe a day or two and then choose.

Bloodbeard:

There’s no joke in sacrificing slaves Herby. I’m gonna sacrifice 5, to get even more votes.

But mostly it’s about keeping this post under the “today search”, get as many looks as possible.
