Today, whial playing WAR, i decided to make a female dwarf (They do exist…) , and it got me thinking about making a Chaos Dwarf hero.
So here’s what i have so far:
Astraval- 200PTS, She may be taken as a Hero+Special Choice.

Gear: The Black Staff, Pouch of Runes, Talisman of Dhuum
The Black Staff- A Wicked staff, made of a unknown black metal. This staff increases the users strength by 4, and in addition will add two power dice to the user.
Pouch of Runes- A pouch filled with magical runes, When smashed they unleash a nightmarish hell, Causing sheer panic in anything it affects. Roll a D6 to see what spell she pulls out. These spells requier no power dice, but Astravel must skip her movement phase to be able to use this bag. All spells have a range of D6+14 inches.
1-2 Obsidian Flame- Small blast, S3, Ignores Armour saves.
3-4 Visions of Terror- Small blast, S0, Causes a moral check at minus one leadership per model hit. A unit hit by this spell may not be rallied, unless a hero or lord is within 10".
5-6 Rune of Shadow Skin- Astravel (And the unit she may be in) will now have a 4+ Wards save until your next turn.
Talisman of Dhuum- Astravel causes terror, and in addition has a 4+ Ward Save and regeneration.
What do you think? Im not quite done yet, And will add rules to using her and Astragoth.
Just so I’m clear, you say increase the strength by 4!?? Do you mean to 4?
I think the idea of spells is ok, but you would need to tidy that up a bit to show she is not a wizard. Have them as bound spells with power levels etc.
The other option is to do something like the brass orb, but something she has enough of for a whole battle!
place small template within 8", roll to scatter.
Then roll for the effect:
1-2 Obsidian Flame- S3, Ignores Armour saves.
3-4 Visions of Terror- Models under the template are ‘hit’ on a roll of 4+. Any unit(s) under the template are minus 1 leadership per model hit and must take an immediate panic test. A fleeing unit hit by this may not be rallied unless a hero or lord is within 10".
5-6 Something. Maybe models under the template are hit on a roll of 5+, and will automatically suffer a wound. Armour saves may be taken as normal (at S3).
I think her passing on a ward save is uneccessary.
You could say that if she is in base contact with Astragoth the range is increased to 24", as he uses his mechanical arm to throw it.
As i said, im not quite done. And yes, strength by 4, which would make it 7. Of coarse, this would make her very strong in CC, But i think ill add another special rule “Price of Failure”, wich may make her take a wound if one of her close combat attacks miss’s (No saves allowed, but Regeneration is). As for astragoth, She and him will become Unbreakable, if either one of them is killed, the other will gain frenzy and hatred for the enemy armies.
VonCarstein anyone ? I love the concept I really do but the unbreakable rule if the other is slain seams to me a step too much ? Perhaps all is lost type rule

Yes, i am basing it off of VonCarstein. But i think that as a Chaos Dwarf, she'd become angry when her hustband dies.
Astraval is filled with rage, and becomes unbreakable, and is subject to frenzy and hatred for the enemy.
Or maybe to roll a dice to see how she feels..

How about a roll per turn after Astraval or husband dies ?
On the death of either her husband or the death of Astraval you must roll on the following table
1-3 All is lost 4-6 Scorn and spite
