I was looking at all the BfSP dwarfs and figuring out what would be useful. I was looking at the miners and thought that they might be good conversions for great weapon warriors. Has anyone done this before? I figure it probably has been done or at least attempted.
I have started it and many others out there have done it. It is a lot like Xander’s method of converting regular BFSP miniatures except that you keep the arms and lop off the head, and carve the beard off the face around the arms. I also cut off the pick and replaced it with the ends from Skaven spears to create a glaive like weapon. I like the more exotic look this creates. I do not have any of these models finished but I could be pushed to put some time in over the next week to get some ready to post pictures of the sculpted.
I’ve done this, and started on more made from the Miners regiment box. I think they work quite well. I used Beastman and Black Orc hand weapons for their GW’s, they’re nicely brutal, if slightly large. I gave the champion a steam drill, because what says ‘nasty, but still dwarven’ more than attacking your enemies with a steam-powered jackhammer?
Great! It’s good to hear. I’ll put it on my list of things I will get done. I’d love to see any pictures that anyone has done.
Has anyone converted the Blood Bowl team to be regular warriors and hobgoblins? I would think that most of them would just need weapons in their hands or a little repositioning.
I kept the look of the original BFSP beard because it was easier ot re-connect it with GS than to make the curly beards. The double bladed axes are the ones the Dwarf Leaders use to intimidate Orcs with.
@Tarrakk Blackhand: Nice, best ones so far Id say! Thou you might consider facing the head of the axe forwards, to me it seems like they are going to flat someone…
Blackhand: Perhaps if they took the horns off before battle. Honestly, if they went sans horns they’d probably look pretty malevolent, and functional at the same time. I’m not the biggest fan of lots of so called Viking Horns… though yours are still the best example to date.
Thanx Swiss! I think of these more as Bull or Goat horns than Viking horns. They’re longer and have a different texture to them.
They may not be the most practical, but they are intimidating. It would be hard to imagine what these guys would look like without their horns after you’ve seen the pics though.
Personally I am using my Skull Pass miners as GW weilding bull centaurs… I’m making bull bodies by shortening and buffing out some GW medieval horses and then placing a BFSP miner torso ontop with the pick part switched with an axe head. The torso part gets greenstuffed over with scales and armour… that’s what i’m doin…
Oh yeah, and I’m using a box of the normal dwarf miners for a Great Weapon infantry unit! The reasons being that they have awesome bare arms that look really badass and tough (rather than the stupid sleeved arms on warriors), and that you get 20 to a box + lots of bitz! (rather than only 16 like the warriors and thunderers boxes)
