[Archive] Boozeys Mourn Border Guard (IG Test Scheme 11/09/2013)

boozecluez:

The start of a chaos dwarf army diary ,new here but looking forward to being a part of this great community

Background

The Mountains of Mourn are a vast mountain chain running along the eastern border of the Chaos Dwarf empire.

They were once home to the mighty Sky Titans (the ancient ancestors of the devolved giants of today) but are now inhabited chiefly by Ogres and innumerable Gnoblar tribes who escaped during their rebellion.

This Army is entrusted with defending the Chaos Dwarf lands from these massive hunting parties who come down from the mountains in the winter looking for their next meal

Details

Due to already owning an Ogre kingdoms army in a ‘fur hunting’ theme ,then I felt it was a great fit for the Chaos dwarves .This is what I won below and intend on chipping away at in the near future

1x CHAOS DWARF DAEMONSMITHS (3 models) Unassembled

1x Limited FW GD DEAMONSMITHS Unassembled

2x CHAOS DWARF INFERNAL COMMANDS (Total 6 models) Unassembled

3x CHAOS DWARF INFERNAL GUARD WITH HW&S SETS (Total 30 models)

4x CHAOS DWARF INFERNAL GUARD WITH FIREGLAVES SETS (Total 40 models)

2x CHAOS DWARF DEATH SHRIEKER ROCKETs

2x CHAOS DWARF MAGMA CANNONs Unassembled

2x CHAOS DWARF BULL CENTAUR RENDERS SETS (Total 6 models)

1x K’DAAI FIREBORN SET (Total 3 models)

Test theme

Trying to keep it fairly simple ,Bronze armour with chainmail ,light blue to help some details pop.

Might put a design on the shield but for now will keep it plain till I knock out the others

Looks good man, I like the bronze and how clean your mini is. Can’t wait to see what else you got

Cheers mate ,appreciate the reply..
Still working on my painting skills due to not being very experienced but practice makes perfect ..
Trying to decide whether to smash out 30 of these guys or I have a death shrieker unassembled but ready for paint?

Thought by having a diary I can get some nice input/advice/ideas hopefully, along with keeping me motivated :)

Nicodemus:

An excellent place to start! Mine started humbly as well with just one model… Looking forward to seeing what you tackle next!

Bloodbeard:

The light blue is a grat contrast to the bronze. And will fit the winter/fur theme great.

Consider giving the blue on the axe some heavy wash of nuln oil or agrax earthshade to make it blend better with the metal.

Sounds good ,I gave it a wash initially but it darkened the blue too  much but will give it a light coat and see how it goes..
Cheers for that.
Might add a few minor details to it later once I get them all painted..Anyways I managed to get the Death Shrieker built and a base coat down so this is what I will be working on now ..Will keep you posted once I have it finished

Soulassassin:

Loving the blue as a contrast color! And as Bloodbeard wrote, some shading/highlighting will make it blend better with the rest of the model. What a great start

The army blog is the main reason I have any work done on mine. To be honest every one could lie to me and say what I produce is great. That false encouragement is more than enough to get the work done.

With out the blog I would be painting rats. Anyways, the models you have assembled, what are they?

Or do you not play frequently?
