[Archive] BTB Mordheim 491 gc Warband - Black Dwarfs

Ok so I am new to Mordheim and here is my 491 gc list:

1. Sorc w/ sword (for parry) 95

2. Bull Centaur w/ 2 swords (for 2x parry) 120

3. Gaoler w/ mancatcher 75

4. 3x Chaos Dwarfs w/ axe and shield 150

5. 3x Informers w/ slings 51

I really want a blunderbus for a CD but just can’t find the points. I guess ill have to wait for a bit. At least this has 9 models though.

Questions:

1. I do get 2x parries for the Bull Centaur armed with 2 swords, right?

2. Is it true that everyone except informers gets a free dagger?

FINALLY! SOMEONE PLAYING MORDHEIM WHERE MY EXPERTISE CAN HELP OUT!

ANSWERS:

1) No, 2 swords allows you 1 parry only. No re-rolls. Page 37 Mordheim rulebook (in-print version). I’m pretty sure that this wasn’t changed in the rules-review/various editions of errata. The second sword gets you the extra attack only, so it is cheaper to equip with a differing secondary weapon, I’d suggest a club.

2) No, EVERYONE starts with a free dagger, that includes the Informers.

TO YOUR LIST:

Drop the shields on the warriors, it isn’t worth it at this stage, and as a rule you need ALOT of armour before it becomes useful to carry shields. For this band, split the 3 warriors into separate henchmen groups so as you NEED to maximise the chances of getting a LGT roll for the first advances in order to ensure you start getting a faster development and greater income. I’d suggest clubs (maces/hammers same thing) instead of shields, and no axes (anyone taking armour well a 6+ save ain’t great and more attacks = more chance to critical and by-pass the save anyways. Same on the Bull Centaur, take a club as a secondary weapon instead of the shield. The mancatcher is great if you have a Prison Wagon. You don’t and probably won’t have the cash for one for at least 2 games so I’d suggest you give him a steel whip or two instead. Finally you NEED that second gaoler for numbers of heroes.

8 members, 500gc’s.

Whilst you don’t have any ranged weapons, you have T4 across the board, everyone can churn out 2 attacks each, and whilst you are missing a member to get to 9, that’s not an issue for a first game, just replace with informers come the second game. Blunderbuss’s would be cool, but again you can get them at a later date. You have a greater chance for increased income and more heroes faster. If you reallyw ant that 9 member start, then drop a Chaos Dwarf, take 2 informers with Maces, daggers and slings at 40gc’s and keep 3 gc’s in the treasury.
