Green Knight:
So I’m building an Abyssal Dwarf army for Kings of War, which’ll be mostly Mantic models, but it’ll use a great deal of Russian Alternative models as well, along with a handful of classic GW and Forge World models, and here’s what I got so far.
OVERMASTER ON GREAT ABYSSAL DRAGON
[attachment=5299]
The GW Chaos Dwarf Lord on Great Taurus. I like the model, but honestly, it’s kind of small in comparison to more recent large monster models, so I plan on replacing him in my army with Drazhoath the Ashen from Forge World.
BLACKSOULS
[attachment=5289]
Russian Alternative models. I intend to get 20 more to make a Horde as well as 40 of their hand weapon and shield models.
DECIMATORS
[attachment=5290]
Russian Alternative models. I love how they look, but they were monstrously difficult to rank. I intend to get 30 more for a horde, but I dread the thought of ranking up thirty more of these models. Eventually, though, I’d like to have 60 of them. One Horde and two Troops (Although one Troops may be made up of the Mantic Decimators below).
DECIMATORS

These are the Mantic models, and good God, how I hate them. They’re ugly as sin, top heavy, hard to assemble, AND near impossible to rank up. They have no redeeming qualities whatsoever, and I have no intention of ever buying another Mantic Decimator model. Thankfully, I’ve got the Russian Alternative models I can get instead.
ABYSSAL BERSERKERS
[attachment=5292]
Russian Alternative. The guy in the middle was a free model I received after I contacted Russian Alternative about an error in my Berserker box. I received 11 right arms and 9 left arms, so they sent me a bunch of extra arms and that model in addition, which is great, as I can now use him as the leader for the unit. And technically, I can say that unit is a Regiment rather than just a Troop. Although I still intend to get ten more to make a Regiment.
- IRON-CASTER
- SLAVEDRIVER
- OVERMASTER
- IRON-CASTER
[attachment=5293]
The first three are Mantic models, and the last is Russian Alternative. I particularly like the last, as it looks so much like the classic Chaos Dwarf Sorcerer on foot from GW. I look forward to using the Slavedriver, but I see little use for the Overmaster, as I’d only take one if it was the Overmaster on Abyssal Dragon.
GREATER OBSIDIAN GOLEM
[attachment=5294]
Mantic model.
ABYSSAL HALFBREEDS
[attachment=5295]
Mantic models.
LESSER OBSIDIAN GOLEMS
[attachment=5296]
Mantic models.
IMMORTAL GUARD
[attachment=5297]
Mantic models.
GARGOYLES
[attachment=5298]
Mantic models. I really like their appearance, but they were absolutely terrible to rank up. It was a small miracle I got them to rank up, and they won’t rank up any other way, which is why I numbered them under their bases, so I can arrange them exactly the same each time.
SLAVE ORCS
[attachment=5300]
Mantic models. I especially like that slaver in the back, whipping the orcs who falter. I’ll probably be adding thirty more eventually to make a Horde.
SUPREME IRON-CASTER ON GREAT WINGED HALFBREED
[attachment=5301]
Mantic. On the one hand, I like the appearance of the model, but on the other hand, I really dislike the model itself. The metal parts aren’t designed to fit with the plastic parts, and that big metal head makes it very top heavy. I really wish the metal parts had been resin, instead, and made so that they slotted in place.
ANGKOR HEAVY MORTAR
[attachment=5302]
I REALLY dislike this model. A lot. I have no intention of buying any more. Instead, I plan to buy the upcoming hard plastic cannon being produced by Russian Alternative. It has two options, a cannon or a rocket, so I’ll be buying five so I can build three Angkor Heavy Mortars and two Katsuchan Rocket Launchers.
