I'm doing it the same way as Kamphre. I think the mantic ogres fit the best on to a chaos knight horse. The plastic from Mantic is hard to work with, but they miniatures are nicely cheap.
I used Chaos knight horse body and Mantic ogres torso. Still less beefy than a FW centaur, but bigger than the metal ones from the 1980-1990's.

For tar'ruk I'm going for an ogre tyrant on juggernaught.
Here you can see the best conventions that I saw in Internet.These are very cool, they look hardcore. But I think the GW ogres are a bit too big on the chaos horses. When I think of proportions and sticking my (he-man body) onto an bull.

so you can use old bull centaurs and put them on 50*75mm bases? I find the fw not bad looking but expensive for 3 per pack.
