Can you intentionally cast a fireball at your own units, namely the Great and Bale Taurus just to get D3 wounds healed?
I don’t mind resolving D6 S4 hits that will barely scratch either the rider or the mount. I would love to have FW folks put out an FAQ that says yes so that mounted Sorcerer-Prophet becomes slightly more viable riding a mount with no AS nor any WS.

Unfortunately not.
A fireball is a Magical Missile and page 31 of the main rule book states that Magical Missiles can only be cast on enemy units.

While you cannot cast fire ball there are still 2 augment spells you can cast onto it to heal it Cascading Fire-Cloak and Flaming Sword of Rhuin
Hashut’s Blessing:
As well as vortex spells from Storm of Magic. if your opponent casts a Fireball at it, that’ll heal it too
