[Archive] CD extortionist in France

"Romain Heaume"

I sold him some spare figurines a few weeks ago at a very reasonable price. Yesterday I found some CDs for sale on another website and e-mailed to inquire about the prices. There were many, including my own (at more than double the price I sold them for). Do not deal with this man as he’s in it just for profit (off of us)!

French_noodle:

Sorry to read that :frowning:

Maybe you can give us the link where th e guy is trying to sell your models. Being French myself, i may be able to tell the webmaster the man is dishonest, and it may be more efficient than if the info came from a foreigner ?

Tell me if i can help.

GrumpyStumpy:

I feel as though posting the link here would just encourage others to buy from him.

He sells via auboncoin.fr

Is he actually being dishonest though? He bought them for less and sold them for more; last time I checked, that wasn't a crime. I'm certainly not saying I approve, but he isn't recasting or anything as far as we know, is he?

GrumpyStumpy:

I don’t want to get too off topic here and quibble just for the sake of quibbling, but what was dishonest of him was to tell me that what I wanted was too expensive for the models and then to double the price. Regardless of being “dishonest”, I just wanted to warn people out there, much in the nature of the eBay thread.

gIL^:

This has happened for years friend theres loads of my CD’s on Ebay at crazy prices. I made a profit now he’s making a profit, It’s all economics, I wouldn’t take it personally.

French_noodle:

Oh my…

I’m totally sorry, i didn’t read well the first topic. I thought GrumpuStumpy was complaining for NOT BEING PAID by the man.

That’s why i reacted this way.

Sorry :s

GrumpyStumpy:

I’m not taking it personally; as I said before, I just wanted to warn people à la the extortionist pricing thread.

Nicodemus:

Everyone is quick to remind that there’s no law preventing people from buying and reselling, but c’mon everyone, there’s lots of these little two-faced $#its out there that piss and moan about just wanting to get a good price for your models, without disclosing that all they are really going to do is turn around and resell them.  Sure they can do what ever they want, they’re still douche bags though, and I sure as anything won’t buy from him nor sell anything to him.

I don’t mind passing on a deal to someone I think is really interested in the hobby and wants to get started on a Chaos Dwarf army, but the profiteering guys take advantage of the seller’s personal connection with a hobby to try and make a buck. Not illegal, but I’d love to give 'em a punch in the nuts.

zobo1942:

I think it comes down to this: If you don’t want to pay the asking price, then don’t buy it. Find somewhere where you can get what you want at a price you can afford. You know, like when you go grocery shopping… Or shopping for anything else, for that matter.

All sorts of people buy and sell miniatures to help defray the cost of their hobby.

I don’t think there is anything wrong with that.

Indeed! Not every act that is immoral is illegal, and not every illegal act is immoral.

I do "buddy deals", but then only to people I know, and I expect them to not sell them on.
