My GW manager has recently had the privilege of taking a look at the new chaos book, and of course, it is going to rock.
He told me he had gotten the chance to not only look at the new book, but he got to talk to Phil Kelly, who is writing the book.
Apparently there is a rather juicy bit of info about the Dawi-Zharr in the new book that is supposed to explain their connections to the chaos mortals (i.e., they are artificers for chaos in trade for slaves and etc.)
Also, and I know this has has been beaten to death already, but my manager actually asked Phil about the possibility of a new CD book coming out.
He said that there is potential for it to happen, and it probably would not happen till late 2009 if it did :mask
He is keeping me up to date on these things :hat off
Nice, really gives more hope for us! I actually don’t mind waiting for 2009. Nice to know anyway that they aren’t completely shuttin’ us out since there actually is something about CD in the book. Thanks for the info!
That is hopeful news bit I’m guessing 2010 would be the earliest. Many of us have heard all of the same things, it seems to be somewhat consistent with what each person hears.
Now whether not it will happen who knows, but lets keep hoping for it.
AFAIAA, the studio work around 6-9 months in advance of reality, to allow the factories to produce the models and such, so late 2009 would see them working on it this spring…
Phil Kelly said tehre would mentions of the Chaos Dwarfs in the new army books. This is a decent bit of information although I wish the CD’s were more than just artisans. Shoot going by that, Dwarves would only be artisans for the Human armies… So, at least that’s a nod that they exist.
About the same I heard from my old manager so it’s very reliable info!
Phil Kelly was a guest and played at the Dutch Grand Tournament a couple of years back and did take interest in my third edition army. Dunno if he would remember it anymore but stated he hoped he would play against me! Sadly that didn’t happen though…
Chaos Dwarfs are indeed popping up quite often in other books, let's just hope they don't become a "background race".
Willmark
they are a background race currently, it can't get any worse than it is now.. I mean we are still a legal army list from 5th edition, so, that's still a positive..
but I agree, I hope it doesn't just end with "fluff stories of the stunties"
Good news again I think, I had thought we would be in there with regards to the hellcannons but another mention beyond that would be big indeed.
Ghrask Dragh
Exactly.

It can get worse than it is now. At least we have the [[Ravening Hordes]] list. A new incompatible edition of Warhammer would be far worse.

the only way for it to be worse is to have the Ravening Hordes list considered to be defunct. And I actually stated the same thing above. I must not have been clear.
What I mean is that Cd's have an army list and the models are easily created if not able to be purchased. therefore, we aren't any worse off now than we were 6 years ago.. When 6th edition hit the shelves with ravening hordes.. however, we are getting mentions and I think that it's a step (albeit a very small step) in the right direction.
@two_heads: I do think that list is considered illegal. The list has been removed from their webpage and is no longer considered tournament legal. The only way for it to get worse is that they are removed from fluff! But still, as you say, there is a light at the end of the tunnel!
Woah… Late 2009…? Thats 2 years earlier than I’m expecting (worst case scenario)!
That would be awesome, even if it was early 2010.
Interesting that Phil was even prepared to give a vague idea of time. He already knows exactly when GW will work on WA:CD (assuming they do at all). GW should have a schedule all the way to the next edition of warhammer. Sure some armies may move a little, but overall they’ll stay roughly in their slot.
Chaos Dwarfs is going to cost a lot, so the accountants will have factored this in for a while.
From what I was told, it is pretty much with every new army book that comes out, the potential grows greater. That is due to the fact that CD have been in most of the new books, and have been consistently included in the fluff many a time.
