[Archive] Chaos Dwarf Battalion Box, what would you like to see?

Guardian_A:

I got to thinking about what I would like to see in a Chaos Dwarf Battalion box. After digging through the old Chaos Dwarf army book for a little while, I came up with a list that I would be happy with. What would you like to see? Keep in mind that most Battalion Boxes have 48 models in it (Warmachines take up three of those spaces.)

Here’s my list:

20 Chaos Dwarf Warriors

10 Chaos Dwarf Blunderbuss

10 Hobgoblins

5 Hobgoblin Wolf Riders

1 Hobgoblin Bolt Thrower

dedwrekka:

I’d have to wait and see what they add to the army if they redid it first.

Swissdictator:

Assuming they added Immortals or some such special unit of Chaos Dwarfs…

10 Immortals

20 Warriors

10 Blunderbuss

Death Rocket

5 Hobgoblin Cav (and the ability to take just 5 as a unit)

Thats one of the reasons I tried to stick with the basics. I’d be surprised if any of the things I listed didnt make the new book. [/align]

dedwrekka:

I guess I’ll give my ideal grouping.

10 Immortals

10 Warriors

20 Hobgoblins

Death Rocket

5 Bull Centaurs.

Guardian_A:

Ok, I’ve got to ask, even if it makes me look like the noobie I am. Who are the Immortals? (Keep in mind my only Chaos Dwarf reference is in the form of the 5th edition Army book.)

clam:

Try look at [[Immortals]] in the Wiki - but short: a elite Chaos Dwarf unit.

But according to ‘tvandyke’s’ newly posts about Tuomas Pirinen’s work on a updated CD book the [[Immortals]] have a long history - and where already a unit in his list back in 1998: https://discourse.chaos-dwarfs.com/t/11375

Guardian_A:

Thanks clam, that was very informative!

Swissdictator:

Basically it’s derived from the Ancient Persians, as the Chaos Dwarfs are largely based on various Mesopotamian civilizations…

Their geographic equivalent is also Mesopotamia/Persia. Thus, Immortals stuck out as a good name for a Chaos Dwarf elite unit.

Sounds better then Sparabara though (spears in front, archers in back… similar to HE Seaguard).

To be honest I would love to see spears be the super-infantry weapon they were in ancient warfare. Anti-infantry in Hastati/Phalanx and skirmish formations and anti-cavalry weapons in any formation.

Currently in the rules they're terrible and unrealistic.

Swissdictator:

@dedwrekka:

To true, spears need to be better represented. I prefer giving spears to most troops (skeletons, DE warriors (no choice I know), and clan rats) especially if the troops are poor (like skellies or clanrats) or ramshackle. It looks good, and feels right. With a happy medium between current spears and pikes… it’d work.

Henroth:

In my opinion, my list:

- 20 Chaos Dwarfs Warriors.

- 10 Chaos Dwarfs Blunderbuss.

- 20 Hobgoblins.

- 5 Bull Centaurs.

- 1 Death Rocket.

- 1 Heroe Chaos Dwarf.

- 1 Sorcerer Chaos Dwarf.

:hat off

Hashut’s Blessing:

I’d like to think there would be more than just core and a warmachine, as most inbclude a special unit (to my knowledge).

Something akin to 15 Warriors minimum, 10-15 Blunderbussers, 10+ Immortals, 5 Bull Centaurs and a war machine of some kind. However, I also think that it could be a far simpler thing of 25-30 Chaos Dwarfs with the options of Blunderbusses, hand weapons and shield or great weapons…

Kera foehunter:

wolf rider

hobgoblin archers

basic cd warriors

blunderbusses

earthshaker

Grimstonefire:

I’d like:

20 CD warriors

10 Blunderbussers

15 Slaves/ hobgoblins

Death Rocket (or equivalent)

How many of the battalions are legal armies these days?

Zanko:

IMO this box should contain:

20 Chaos Dwarf Warriors

15 Chaos Dwarf Blunderbussers

5 Bull Centaurs

1 Chaos Dwarf General/Hero

1 Chaos Dwarf Sorcerer

1 Deathrocket

1 Earthshaker

:hashut

wallacer:

20 warriors/blunderbusses (assuming the sprue can make both)

20 Hobgoblins

5 Bull Centaurs

Some kind of war machine

Border Reiver:

30 Warriors (options for GW or HW, or Blunderbusses)

10-20 Hobgoblins (depends on what they make the minimum size)

5 Wolf riders

Death Rocket

Plastic Fighter character

Plastic Sorcerer

And an apology saying “Sorry it took so long, glad you’re still with us.”

Thorne:

I would really like to see

- 20 Chaos Dwarfs Warriors.

- 10 Chaos Dwarfs Blunderbuss.

- 20 Hobgoblins.

- 5 Bull Centaurs.

- 1 Death Rocket.

But we will be hard pressed to get

- 10 Chaos Dwarfs Blunderbuss.

- 20 Hobgoblins.

- 5 Bull Centaurs.

- 1 Death Rocket.

BilboBaggins:

20 Chaos Dwarf Warriors

10 Chaos Dwarf Blunderbusses

Earth Shaker or Death Rocket

40 Hobgoblins

20 Hobgoblin Archers

10 Hobgoblin Wolf/Spider Riders

Hobgob Hero or 2

2 CD Heroes.

Oh wait that’s the Battle for Skull Pass Box Set.
