Dark Prince:

This is the link on the news letter.

Dark Prince:

So there is hope. It also seems to end the Sneeky Gitz myth. My gameing group uses Tournament rules so it pretty much covers everything for me.

metro_gnome:

remember these are US GT regs… if you are in the UK…
or well anywhere else… do not expect to play by these rules…
the US considers the rules of warhammer (like the rules of everything else) as being somewhat maleable…

rather arbitrary… as house rules tend to be…
shame they didnt dot all their "i"s and cross their "t"s…
Big 'Uns can still carry a magic banner in the tournament…
and im sure thats not what the TD intends…

StyrofoamKing:

Still, clarification on the Bull Centaurs is nice, no? (even if temporary)

metro_gnome:

i dunno… the disclaimer at the top of the clarification…
shows how the studio wants to distance themselves from these ruling…

on the matter of credibility…
all of the rulings (save the black orc ruling) are in favor of the CD player…
even the BB ruling which should have been the first to change…

on the matter of BCs…
i don’t think the studio has decided either way… if they are considering it at all…
the GW fix was a balance issue… and theres really no reason why BCs should be exempt from a balance issue…
no one can claim that the RH writers had this in mind when they wrote the list…
a ruling based on centigors would have been more appropriate…

Xander:

At least it is something, thanks for sharing!

Kyte:

I don’t get it… What’s the changes?

I don't get it... What's the changes?
Read the FAQ, the actual list is the same.

Seems bizarre that we lose all our magic items. They're not really underpriced or overly good.

I like the BC clarification though.

Where did it say we lose our magic items?

eagletsi:

Can we still take Orc Big’un Boyz? After all they are Boyz, and do we still get the 50 point magic banner?

oops, I misread it!

qwe50:

i’ll have to see what the tournemenents i play in say but hey bull centaurs just got really MEAN again.

and u can still take orc big uns to get the spirit totem if that’s what u want

Father Grumpmas:

I contacted the Rulz Boyz (who I know are a bit of a random element) shortly after the 6th O&G book came out and they were very clear that no greenskin units in the CD army could carry a magic banner.

The listing at the start of the Ravening Hordes CD list (Bull centaurs or CD warriors may take magic banners) over rules any reference to banners in the O&G book.

Father Grumpmas
That's fairly debabtable due to Warhammer's rules being permissive for the most part and the is no use of any term such as 'only' in the description, whereas there is a mechanic in the rulseset for BOs and Big 'Uns to have banners.
Fluffwise however it is highly uncharacterful IMO to allow slaves to use magic banners

eagletsi:

Spirit Totem it is. That’s great news.

The new update helps,

eagletsi

metro_gnome:

incorrect your boyz are restricted to the banners available to our (CD) army…
war banner or banner of slavery…

the rules in ravening hordes are an allowance…
they allow BCs and CDs to carry a banner… notice that there is nothing else that does…
they do not restrict any other units from carrying a banner…
what you are seeing is a shift in format…
in 5th ed the rules for banners were found in the general rules for the army…
in 6th ed (and now 7th ed) rules for banners were found in unit entries…
the 6th ed (and 7th ed) O&G books followed the new format… and as these are our unit entries by WD 250-251…
the upgrade to big uns and the black orc unit entry allow for the use of banners…
they must still be selected from the banners avaliable to the CD army…
no permission is given for us to use other armies magic items…

now the rules for these tournaments (US GT) have restricted Black orcs from carrying banners…
they have not restricted Big 'Uns from doing so… i believe this is an oversight in an already arbitrary rules decision…
if you wish to play in the spirit of the US GT style… i suggest you do not take banners on your big uns either…

to be honest… banners on greenies are not the best choice unless your army contains huge amounts of green…
where the banner of slavery would be useful… but is just as useful on your center CD block…

Lord Zarkov:

Metro is completly correct

By the list itself Big 'Uns and Black Orcs may take magic banners

The O&G magic items are for O&G armies only, so we can’t use them. Thus the only banners available are the Warbanner and the Banner of Slavery

wallacer:

Lord Zarkov
It would be a pretty apalling exploit if that wasn't the case.

metro_gnome:

well the RH list tells us on page 33 which magic items the CD army can use…
the ones listed there or the common magic items in the rulebook…
we do not have any access to “Da Shiney Stuff”…
if a page number had been listed in the unit entry we would tho…

eagletsi:

Ok.Well at least that clears it up.Basically, I won’t take banners with my Big’Uns either. One question though; Why can ogre kingdom as dogs of war use Ogre kingdom banners then?
