Billy Ocean:
I want to be able to also use my Chaos Dwarfs as an evil-themed dwarf army using the regular dwarf book. When I do, I want to have a lord on shield bearers, so need to convert an evil version.
I think the AoW lord would great atop of the shield, he has the right pose for it. But I don’t know which models could be easily converted to use as the bearers. Anyone done such a thing before? Or have good ideas about what models would work? I need it to be a pretty simple conversion, not got great skills in that department.
Bloodbeard:
The old dwarf warriors (from 5th ed) came with arms that can put so the would carry a shield. Ther hand a a bit bigger than the new dwarf miniatures, so you can actually drill trough them. That’ll let you put in some rod for stability. Then put on a large shield.
I’ll use either the right kind of button found at a fleamarket or a chaos start banner symbol - with some plastikcard on the back.
Go to Tjubs blog. He just made a palanquin, might get some inspiration there,.
torn:
I’m working on this myself. My plan is to use avatars of war berserkers, as the whole unit is those guys, with a scibor chaos shield. I decided in the end to use a non round shield just to differentiate that they are chaos.
Dînadan:
How about the Throne Bearers from the dwarf special character on throne (Thorgrimm?) You could use two bearers for your lord on shield, then use the throne to convert a seat for the back of a Taurus or Lamasu. The other two bearers could then be used either to convert up another shield bearers set, convert up warmachine crew or convert up bearers for a petrified sorcerer to use as a unit filler.

@torn: cool! good to hear that someone is pursuing the same task as me. Can you post some wip photos in an army diary or something as you work on this, might be helpful for me to follow your progress.
@dinadan: hmm, thorgrims throne bearers are actually nice models, and might work well for this task, with a nice chaotic colorscheme and a few bits shaved off. Thanks for the tip!
@bloodbeared: Nice idea for the shield itself, I think thats what I’ll do.
any other ideas?
