[Archive] Chaos dwarfs 2250pts. (indy)

Mahtipakarat:

Hi everybody.

I have been planning on making a chaos dwarf army for sometime now (and even converted and painted couple of models). I plan to make my finished army something like this. (and i’m using the Indy GT unofficial book).

Chaos Dwarf Death Rocket 90pts.

Hobgoblin spear chukkas (2) 70pts.

Rare

Earthshaker cannon 100pts.

Earthshaker cannon 100pts.

Total: 2245pts.

Models in army: 93

Deployment drops: 11

Dispel: 7 + 2scrolls & Hexacon

Power: 6 + loads of bounds.

I might swap inferno golems or 2nd warrior unit for some Bullcentaurs or if i’m feeling even more cheesy another earthshaker and 2nd unit of Annihilators.

I planned this army so that it doesn’t have too many models. (only 74models to convert and paint), and i happen to have 3x BFSP dwarfs already, so i just have to find time to convert and paint (lazy painter syndrome). I’m also kind of sick of Goblinoids, I have 2500pts full goblin horde so i’m taking a break from greenskins.

So what do you think? Comments would be appreciated.

Edit: took Shield of the Great Bull from high priest (not sure if it’s legal), and added a dispel scroll.

Edit2: Removed 1 deathrocket, 1 eruption and inferno golems. added 6bullcentaurs, 15 annihilators and 2nd earthshaker.

Uzkul Werit:

The only thing I’d consider maybe changing out is the Eruption Guns. They never seemed to do well in my games. Two twenty Rabble units would be handy just for putting more bulk in the battleline. You could use Goblins from your Greenskin for them, I guess.

Mahtipakarat:

Thank you for your comment.

So far i have played 3 games with this list (against skaven, lizardmen and vampire counts). And so far the eruption guns haven’t been too great, mainly holding fellbats and charging skinks & skaven, so i might drop them, but for now i want to try them a couple of times more. I definately want more Annihilators, so i’m dropping golems. Also i want to get something a bit faster and hard hitting to my army… Bullcentaurs are what i’m looking for so i’m going to drop 1 death rocket and add unit of them.

mattbird:

how has the list done in your games so far?

Thanks for asking.

I played one game against vampire counts with the very first version of the list, it had slavemaster with gw and the +1 armour save armour and 2 units of 5 hobgoblin wolf riders (and only 2 daemonsmiths and no earthshaker).
My opponent had
level 4 vampire with +1 to casting and dispelling, helm of commandment and fly ability
level 1 vampire on nightmare that knew one lore and 2 powerstones
level 1 vampire with flayed hauberk (2+ armoursave), sword of might, amulet of movement 9  and bsb (and some combat res bloodline)
level 1 necromancer with dispel scroll and power stone
2x10 ghouls
2x20 zombies
20~grave guard
20 skeletons with 2x unit res flag
2x5 dire wolves
3fellbats
3wraiths
varghulf

In my oppinion he had a pretty balanced list. I played that match a bit too aggressively and went too fast to close combat (my high priest and smiths were not able to cast spells). I had poor luck selecting my spells (3 rules of burning iron and only 1 good target for them). I managed to kill a necromancer and 100 or so zombies. So that game was a solid loss, but still greatfun.

Then my 2nd game was against some nasty skavens with a noobie player he had:
Greyseer with screaming bell
3 warlock enginseer (13powerdice total)
2x30 clanrats with 2 ratling guns
2x 20~skavenslaves
25~stormvermin
2packs of giant rats
2 warp lightning guns

My opponent was a noobie and did some really stupid decisions (he is still learning the game), and this time i was not too eager to get to close combat so i spend couple of rounds just shooting his nice big blocks with my death rockets causing massive carnage. I also rolled some nice spells (2 conflagrations of doom and wall of fire for my daemonsmiths) which grilled some more skavens. i won by massacre.

then my 3rd opponent (lizardmen) had:
Slann with the thingie that makes my high priest ignore all 6's on casting. and diadem
lvl2 skink priest on engine with allways march drums
unit of 15skinks and 1 kroxigor
3x10 skinks with blowpipes (skirmish)
10 ranked skinks
2 salamanders
2x3 terradons
special stegadon (the 6th edition rare one)
and 22 templeguard bunker for his slann :/.

Again I messed up with my spell selection, i had 2 rules of burning iron (my plan was to snipe the priest on top of engine -  I should just choose fire :P). He managed to destroy my earthshaker with heavens thunderbolts, then he used skinks and other fast stuff and killed 2 of my death rockets and one bolt thrower.  I failed my terror test with my high priests unit and ran, then rallied then desided to flee, (he combo charged with 2 stegadons) and then failed rally test and ran out of the table. I had quite a bit of bad luck. Still it was only a minor loss for me almost a draw (and if i hadn't failed that rally it would have been draw in my favour, but such is life).

I really enjoy playing with this new book and at the moment it is my favourite army.
