[Archive] Chaos Dwarfs Confirmed by GW

Hashut’s Blessing:

I was at my local GW yesterday and the store manager told me that Chaos Dwarfs were coming out next year. They would definitely be a Forgeworld army, not a Citadel one. They will be made under the soon to be founded Forgeworld Fantasy (created because Forgeworld weren’t listening to GW telling them to make more Fantasy stuff), which will be headed (although maybe just heavily involving) Rick Priestly.

He stated them all as facts, not as whispers that he was hearing or anything, hence the new thread etc.

Rejoice for new army and book? Definitely. Downside: likely cost…

clam:

I’ll belive it, when I see them

GRNDL:

Same old, same old. Personally, this is what I believe, too, but that doesn’t make it officlal.

Grimstonefire:

This is a good rumour, also supported by a number of snippets over previous months.  A month or two ago someone mentioned that their local GW had already preordered a few things (didn’t say what), so it seems they are well informed.

It will be a shame if there are no models at all that will be in the shops (i.e. plastic), and because of shipping those outside the UK will not be pleased.

I am curious whether it will simply be a list that’s part of a fantasy Imperial Armour book, or will it be a separate book on it’s own?

nitroglysarine:

it’ll be interesting to see if GW actually supports them with updated rules, plus i know forgeworld are pretty, but damn are they expensive!

Thorne:

Ill reserve my judgement till I see the resin, I dont know perhaps im to sceptical but I cant see gamesworkshop whole-heartedly supporting them still.

Loki:

I am not holding my breath on this one, have heard all this before, if they do it will be great other than the price, would be cool if we got an army book the size of the imperial armour ones

Grimstonefire:

I don’t follow the Imperial armour books. Are they actually updated at any point? Do FW do Errata and FAQ?

That could be an issue if we got one book that was never updated again.

Not that I advocate casting to sell (as that would be illegal), but I will definately be stocking up on moulding rubber and resin for personal use next year…

They don't have to. They could 'just' do an updated 'get you by' ruleset. All we ask for (or maybe it's only me, but I doubt it) - really - is a new balanced, 7ed. - .pdf ruleset, that fix what' seems broken. Do that and I'll get of their back. It's GW with the 'No model, no rules'-approch - not me. And ban them for GT if they want - I don't care.

Loki:

@ Grimstonefire they are getting on for over 200 pages big with loads of cool art work and loads and loads of back ground information, i dont belive they have needed to do an update or faq for one yet as they seem to take there time with it and get it right the first time unlike gw that just crack them out then sort it out later

Kind of a Ravening Hordes 2??
..but just for C.D.

That makes no sense what so ever. GW OWNS Forgeworld. If the guys at Forgeworld refuse to do what management tells them to, you fire them and get guys who know how to take orders. It is that simple.

Shipping is not a factor. FW does free express airmail on any order of 250£ or more. Buying a CD army will certainly cost in that neighbourhood. Either way finding someone who wants a few pieces to get to that magic number would likely not be difficult

Grimstonefire
Yes and no. FW usually publish experimental rules before going into print. They don't publish regular FAQs but they do sometimes put up a FAQ for adjustments. Usually rules amendments come in the form of a new book.
None of the FW stuff have really been of the type to need regular updates. As essentially unofficial stuff you are pretty much expected to make it work.

I’m glad to hear some CDs may get love…

The flaw in that plan is that once you get up to things in that price range customs starts to take an interest and sticks import duties on them (or at least they do in my country).
I'm not sure if that works out to be more or less than the cost of postage. I'd need to work it out if it came to that.

I don't really care if it's released by GW or FW, so long as somebody makes more toys for me to buy.

nitroglysarine
Yeah, that would do - but I was thinking more about a list similar to the Blood Angles list that Jervis and Rick did for WD330-331 (UK)

Bah! For ONCE I am benefiting from the EU, stop spoiling it for me!

Why don't you join as well... ;P

Baggronor:

Isn't that what happened last time? :)

Grimstonefire:

Lol.  I just think it would be a shame that because of the name on the book it could never get updated.  Alternatively it could be really good if they updated the list every time they brought in a wave of new stuff, every 2 years or so etc (by simply sticking an amended list in each new volume)!

We’d be better off than all the other armies then, who have to wait 6 years.

Tutankhankh:

This is in line with what I’ve heard this summer, but I’d still take it with a grain of salt.

Tarrakk Blackhand:

I don’t understand why they just don’t take he old “Warhammer Presents :Chaos Dwarfs” pictures, fluff, etc and erase the older “Play” rules, Magic Cards, Battle of Anurell’s Tomb, Monsters, update the Ravening Hordes info, and stuff that back into the vacant slots on the pages. (Like updating the Hobgoblins from costing 2.5 points to the current 2 points - for example) Also, take the Hell Cannon and stuff that into the book. Also, take the other existing fluff from the Ogre Kingdoms book, Warriors of Chaos, etc and put that in there as well.

If they did something like that, I’ll bet you they could write the book in under 2 weeks!
