torn:

thanks for the quick reply guys. Another question - can you get up and then go for it?

I played 3 more games on pc, beat high elves 2 - 0, pro elves 2 - 1, and drew with amazons 1 - 1, although my werewolf with dodge failed to dodge to an empty square to make the blitz to keep that at 1-0.

With most of my players at least lvl2, and even having 2 lvl3 zombies, I think my team has become stupidly powerful after about 12 games. Its balanced against other teams with similar power levels but any team lower I dont think would stand much chance. Thinking about leveled up amazons a full team of dodge-block players is very easy.

Zuh-Khinie:

But also very boring to play with or against… it’s a bit of a one-trick pony. Amazons are one of the teams that has the least amount of versatility in its arsenal, and which starts to get beaten hard at TV 150 and up.

I’ve played against them in leagues extensively, and they’re one of the teams I face with the least amount of gusto… oh, and a starting dwarf team will wipe the floor with them.Gotta love that tackle

Bloodbeard:

Amazons are one of the absokute best starting team. Starting with all dodge and four dodge/block blitzers is really powerfull. But as opponents get tackle on players the team gets bad.

Over time the agility 4 of elves is much more important than having only dodge. At that point the level the amazons with only armour 7 gets killed off.

With your Necromancer team it might be an idea to not raise your zombies above 1 skill. They are expendable garbage. In my experience it would be better to keep twam value down here. Perhaps get inducements against some enemies.

torn:

I think my brother wants to start a local league. We were thinking of organising the teams into different tiers and giving lower tier teams some extra starting gold. Do you think this would still be balanced and also encourage more team diversity?

I’m really getting into my blood bowl at the moment. 2nd ed. was my first ever games workshop game.

Bloodbeard:

Starting gold is fine. Cheaper re-rolls, players etc make up for starting differences. But on the long run is can get unbalanced. But in our league a goblin team has mafe it to the semi finals three times in a row despit it being over 6 seasons in.

Some simple long term balance tips:
Mighty Blow, pilling on and claw may not be taken together. Max two not all three.

Goblins and halflings are allowed 12 players on the pitch and 18 on their roster.

tjub:

About leveled teams, you can divide the team into early/mid/late or ex TV1200/1700/2000+ progression wise. With say Amazons being really god in early, Dwarves in mid, and mainly Chaos/Nurgle in late.

I find the inducement system works fine, a skilled team is still better but IMO it should be. A new team will have to fight their way up. But as for a skilled team constant facing a wiz/chef/SP will take its toll on the players and they loose them. Fear is a great weapon as well, so one or two Dirty players early on will make a high TV team think twice on how badly they want to win.

Edit: In swedish though, but here are some of our Leauge Rules. I think google translate will work… TLoEG Blood Bowl league

torn:

the google translation was ok, although it said all models must be painted, numbered and bent. Im not sure what bent was supposed to mean.

I like the no illegial procedures houserule we use that in our friendly games too.

Painted, numbered and with finished bases. :)

torn:

One thing I always do is colour code the bases using the 2nd ed. colour schemes. That saves a lot of hassle, just if I could get my opponents to do the same.

cornixt:

I’ve started doing that, and it makes it so much easier, especially with converted or similar models. I’ve never been able to tell the Skaven team models apart!

I have trouble even with my own pro elf team. Last game i used them i thought i had 3 blitzers, paid for 3 blitzers, started the game and was like, wheres my 3rd blitzer? I only own 2.

I have another couple of questions if people would like to answer.

The first is how does an apothecary work? Do i roll, get an injury, and then re-roll on the injury chart e.g. stunned, KO’ed etc, or do I get a serious injury and re roll on the serious injury chart, for example could i re roll the d66 if i get a dead or stat loss?

Along the same lines, does niggling injury affect the stunned etc injury table or the dead, niggling injury injury table.

And lastly, I think its correct regeneration on works for serious 10+ injury rolls, not knocked out or stunned?

Bloodbeard:

Apo can do two things:

Re-roll casuelty table result. E.i: dead, badly hurt and serious injury. Ypu choose amog the two. If a badly hurt is rolled put him in reserves.

Or when a player is knocked out make him become stunned on the pitch instead.

NI +1 to injury table. E.i: knocked out on 7-8, casualty on 9-12 etc.

Regeneration 4+ on casuelties, not knocked out and stunned.

Thats how I thought it was from playing on the pc game, but I havent had much time for reading the crb/lrb6 pdf.

I have played 4 games on the pc now against chaos dwarf teams and I can say that they are a pretty tough team to play against. A couple of block skills on the centaurs and they are very solid, all that block/tackle makes them very hard to play around, in fact I havent even scored against them yet against a human opponent.

But . . . I dont have the time or cash right now to buy/make a new team. I have started sculpting a couple of CD blood bowl blockers, but, I know I wont get time to finish them so I have just stripped my necromantic team and I have started to repaint it.

The witch will carry a flag with the team name on it.

I havent decided on the team colours yet, but I want to incorporate the colour of my pinky purple NAF dice from 2002 that are incredibly rare and extremely lucky for me, unlike the 2008 yellow which always come up skulls. I also have 2009 red but have never used them.
