[Archive] Chaos Dwarves are back on the slab (now with colour)

Ingrown:

I found my half finished bullcentaur the other day and decided to give him and CDs in general another crack. This is where it stands, got some arms cut-up and ready but they were too awkward to photo.

While that GS was drying i mosied on over to the forum, saw Tjubs excellent work and maxxevs use of older Chaos warrior torso and dwarf legs (which im made away with) so i tryed my hand at that:

Same excuse with arms, need to do some more work on the hat. Should have some painted pics up before too long. Any suggestions/comments?

Cheers

The Brain:

nice hat, what is the face from?

Loki:

Thats what i like to see a huge hate on a model :hat great gs work cant wait to see more

Kera foehunter:

nice green stuff love the hat

Ingrown:

@ Brain the head on BCs the marauder with the flowing hair and the other blokes is a last editon dwarf head.

Done some work on the hat, reckon its about as good as i can get it. Given it lip and tusks. Trying to find a suitable axe then I’d call it done unless any of you can think of anything thats missing.

Cheers all:cheers

Willmark:

Clean up the mold lines on the left arm, they are really noticeable. I’d be interested to see how this looks painted.

Zanko:

Very interesting and individual conversions!

For my liking too much BigHat …  ;P

In my opinion your conversions are great and your ability to work with GS is awesome!  :hat off

I’m very curious to see your minis finished and painted!

               :hashut

Ingrown:

Thanks for all the compliments :). I’ve thrown some paint on, with more than a little trepidation as its far from my strong point, but i am very pleased so far. Hope it meets any expectations

wallacer:

Pretty cool conversions. As an added bonus, he could take his hat off and use it as soft cover

Ingrown:

The Lord is now fully finished, except a decent base but it’ll be months before i get around to that.:~

Pics:

Any comments

Cheers :cheers

Loki:

Awesome  he looks well hard, you would not want to run in to him in the warhammer world, he looks like he carry the axe for show and does all his killing with his massive arms and if he can kill you with his fists he will hit you with his hat and that will do the job  looking forward to seeing the bull centaur if this model is any thing to go by his is going to look ace

Ingrown:

Bullcentaur finished bar base, which i will start as soon as i find some cork, wine seems to all have fake rubbery stuff instead:(, well unless I find some more of my old Dwarves

Cheers all for keeping my motivation up :hat off

kerbak:

real good convertions, congratulations, its definitly the first centaur based on ponys that I really like, very very good:cheers

Bazil:

Awesome conversions, The horns on your lord reminds me of Fred Flinstone in his lodge hat going bowling. Now you need to make a twinkle toes model

Father Grumpmas:

Both the Lord and the BC rock - I have some serious hat envy going on :hat off

wallacer:

Really nice. I like both the conversion and the colour scheme.

Ingrown:

Cheers Kerbak just got to find some more ponies now, going to get the Miners box for my warriors and i think thats got a couple.

@ Bazil, thats just killed any hint of threat or sinisterness he had, right though

Cheers Grumpmas, Wallacer n thanks for the slaves.

RoguePanda:

They look great to me Ingrown. The Lord has a whole feel about him as if he just waded through an enemy unit, stamped on some people, and is now taking a rest to look out at the battlefield - and decide who is next! :o Definately don’t want to make him angry.

A random thought came to mind when I saw him, and that was that you clearly can sculpt hair, so how about some large hats using the massive furry Bearskin type hats that the guards at Buckingham Palace use - they could be an interesting challenge I think and if they are covered in little chaos amulets and chains they won’t look out of place

Anyway great stuff - look forward to more

Thats a pretty cool idea, I was toying with doing it when i saw Scribor’s CDs (http://www.sciborminiatures.com/pow.php?absol=1&co=i/chaos_dwarf/big/Moscal_wip07.jpg) but im pretty rubbish at fur (the topknots off an older chaos warrior). I’ll have to try and find that fur tutorial i got hammerhand to do a while back. Prehaps traditional bighat with fur draped over it?:cheers

RoguePanda:

Oooh, I remember those Scibor miniatures. I don’t know if these will help, but here are a couple of links that might do - hope it is Ok to post these:

1) GW fur collar tutorial - it’s under 40k Chaos, Slannesh marines - here is the link, but you have to choose your country before you can view it. http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/content/article.jsp?community=&catId=&categoryId=400029&pIndex=11&aId=1200005&start=12

2) random video on You Tube on fur - actually looks quite useful, I might try it myself. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SKqTXKTt1As. Also has a cool idea for converting Centigors - that we could borrow ideas from for Bull Centaurs

I hope they both work - I am kind of new to forums and stuff so the linking of stuff is all a bit arcane for me!

Have fun :hat off
