Chaos-ThaneWill:

Hello fellow dawi-zharr.

I have my first list @ 1000p and belive me i found it hard to make advice would be highly apreciated.

here it is:

201p: *Sorcerer

Lv. 2

Mark of Tzeentz

Spell familiar

5+ Wardsave (BRB)

Chaos steed

470p: 20 Chaos Warriors

Shields

Full command

Mark of Tzeentz

260p: 35 Chaos Maraurders

Ligth Armour

Great weapons

Full Command

Mark of Khorne

35p: 5 Warhounds

Scaly Skin

35p: 5 Warhounds

Scaly Skin

Total: 1001

And… what do ya think… The warhounds wouldn’t be my first choise but, what else for 70 points

Galladorn:

The Sorc general looks good, just drop the steed. Alone = dead sorc, in a unit = protection from shooting attacks.

Your Chaos Warriors are just too big for a 1000 point game. Having a Mark of Tzeentch with a shield gives a great parry save, but with half of your army sitting in 1 big unit, it is a big risk. An enemy can simply avoid that unit (easily done since they are infantry), and mop up the rest of your force to win. 15 warriors will do the same job, and will free up 80 points to be spent on something else, combined with the chaos steed should put you close to 100 points saved.

You need MORE marauders. One of the most feared units in 8th is a horde of 40+ Mark of Khorne with great weapon marauders. (I love to use 2 units of 50). Please drop the light armor, a 6+ save isn’t going to do anything. Use those points to buy more marauders!

And drop the scaly skin for your warhounds. Their job is to misdirect and draw out fanatics, put in as few points as you can into them.

combined with the chaos steed, and 5 warriors places you with at least 100 extra points to work with. 2 chaos spawn? in a 1000 point game, having 2 spawn can potentially do great things.

Spikes:

Arent 5 hounds fewer points than that if you don’t buy them upgrades? (I’m trying to list points as little as possible.)

Do you really need a champion in your warrior unit? That, along with the hounds costing a couple of points less, should make your list 1k pts.

Galladorn:

Solid List. You can throw the warriors at almost any enemy and do well. The marauders are my favorite. An enemy that shoots at them saves your warriors, and when an enemy does shoot at them, 5 points a model is a great tradeoff for saving your 16 point warriors!!

Spikes is absolutely correct with the champion in the warriors, and please consider dropping the champion in the marauders, use those points towards even more marauders!!!

Chaos Spawn have been debated as to their effectiveness over the years, but I can safely say that I really enjoy them.

Chaos Champions/characters MUST issue a challenge each and every phase of close combat. A Marauder champion who strikes last stands very little chance of surviving the attacks made against him, and most likely giving overkill bonus to the enemy.
Your Tz Warrior champion can take the hits, but it is my opinion that 2 more attacks shredding rank and file troops would be more useful than putting a 28 point (16 for the warrior, 12 for the upgrade)champion in a challenge.
However, IF you plan on including your Sorc in with the unit, then by all means keep the champion. This way your Sorc does not need to issue any challenges, and your champion wll take the hits.

It's simply a matter of opinion, not "right" or "wrong"

Grimbold Blackhammer:

Actually WoC characters have to issue and accept challenges; champions are immune unless a Warshrine is on the table as well.

And it is spelled “Tzeentch”. Not Tzeentz.

Chaos-ThaneWill:

That’s also what they told me @ the WoC forum Grim so i guese that’s rigth, i’ll look it up. if i werent to lazy :stuck_out_tongue:

And yes the SoT is going in the CW unit.
