[Archive] Dark Eldar conversions

nicque-ta-mare:

Yesterday I took a good look at the dark eldar model range for the first time and… they’re amazing. Now, I have no intention of playing 40k any time soon but wouldn’t mind considering a major conversion project… but don’t know where to start. Ideas I have had so far;

Wyches - Witch Elves, Waywatchers, plague monks
Wracks - Forsaken
Incubi - Executioners
Mandrakes - Executioners, fireborn, Grave guard, Sword masters, white lions
Grotesque - Troll, Ogre, RatOgre, Spawn
Scourge - harpy, fury
Urien Rakarth/ Haemonculus - Vampire, necromancer

Thematics can be totally different (you all seen Gobtonnia; Brettonian made totally out of goblins?) opening the forum for conversion ideas…

Grimbold Blackhammer:

The models are very nice but most of them are too futuristic. I’ve seen some really well executed conversions but I have yet to see one look right.

I agree that you can make an amazing necrarch vampire with urine, the res would be very tough.

Um..what is a 'necrarch' vampire and how does one make anything (other than a disgusting mess) with urine? And what is 'res'? And what's with the threadnomancy?

Urine? Hmmm...is that anything like green stuff?

Baggronor:

He means Urien, as in Urien Rakarth, the Haemonculus special character lol.

Um…what is a ‘necrarch’ vampire…?
Back in 5th - 6th ed, the Vampires were split into Bloodlines: Von Carstein, Blood Dragon, Lahmian, Strigoi and Necrarch. Necrarchs were the sorcerer bloodline and looked like Count Orlock from Nosferatu.

They got rid of the different rules for them last edition because they actually ended up stifling variety.

I love the english language, so prone to funny mistakes when people aren’t watching what they are typing
