Malorndk:
I can remember an old Discovery or History Channel documentary about an ancient civilization that had remarkable similarities to the Chaos Dwarf lore.
Can anyone remember the exact name, or link me the video?

Grimstonefire:
Not sure exactly, but I think what you’re referring to is Hittites.
That name rings a bell, sure I’ve seen that and I think it’s them.
Edit. See this thread, not a bad memory 6 years ago.

Admiral:
Yes, Dark Lords of Hattusha, aka Bronze Age Hittites. Here it is, with some other Hittite stuff that’s been watched through while hobby workshopping. Pretty enjoyable stuff:
Lost Cities of the Ancients 3. The Dark Lords of Hattusha
The Battle of Kadesh
Decisive Battles: 5. The Battle of Kadesh - Ramses II vs Muwatalli II
The Hittites: A Civilization That Changed the World
The Hittites
Tracking the frontiers of the Hittite Empire
A is for Anatolia. Writing and Literacy in the Hittite Kingdom
In Search of the Trojan War (1985): 5. Empire of the Hittites
And a bit related, since the Hittites went down in the late Bronze Age collapse:
Secrets of the Aegean Collapse
Chronologies of Collapse: Climate Change in the Intermediate Bronze Age
1177 BC: The Year Civilization Collapsed
Also, remember the part in the movie Troy, when Agamemnom and his generals quarrel about the Greeks appearing weak after a Trojan victory? One of the generals burst out with: “How long before the Hittites attack?!” Mycanean attacks on Troy might very well have happened at least once during the bronze age. There are Hittite records that indicate this, and the besieging Greeks would all the time have to fear a Hittite horde marching upon them from the inland, allied to Troy.
Should anyone look for docus and videos on ancient history and the like, don’t hesitate to ask.
ashur:
You should look at some assyrian documentaries. Those guys where the real chaos dwarfs.
Admiral:
That’d be Ancient Warriors: 1. Assyrians - Masters of War
You can hardly find any other English documentary on them. TV focus is fixed on ancient Egypt, at the expense of contemporary empires that could be just as interesting.
There’s some Russian text video on the Assyrians, and an Arabian documentary on their chariots. Could still be viewed for the pictures.
Fanning out a bit, it’s possible to find some videos on Babylonia and Mesopotamia in general:
The Kings: From Babylon to Baghdad
Plus scenes from some old Hollywood movie:
Babylon highlights from Intolerance (1916)
And a Babylon 3D project.

Thanks.

Some real good content here. Thanks for sharing Admiral.
DAGabriel:
Love that Babylon3D project. Thx!
Admiral:
You’re welcome.
Also, this narrow documentary about the neo-Babylonian empire has popped up on Youtube:
The Mystery of Babylon
It’s got quite some good stuff in it about Babylonian cult practice and so forth not found in other videos (you’ve got to read to get to that), but for the part on the Hanging Gardens, watch:
Secrets of the Ancients: Hanging Gardens of Nineveh
Tokheim:
When I was stuck over in Iraq I saw a few ziggurats,
One of the last places I was stationed at was next to the ruins of the city of “Ur” which had a pretty intact one that you could climb on top of. Went down into the city too, I’m sure you couldn’t do that with other sites anymore.
Makes you appreciate history. And not those that try to destroy monuments or try to rewrite it their way.
Tokheim:
Dang SPELL CHECK HERE WON’T LET ME POST the name of the city.
U-R, U-R, U-R!!!
Two letters, one name. A “U” and an “R”…
Dang computers…they’re taking over!!!
SKYNET!!!
