Norngahl:
Hey there!
I’ve been playing a Lvl4 Sorcerer Prophet with Lore of Hashut on Great Taurus/Carpet so far (usually 2500p)…
But in Times of Endtimes, where seemingly everyone seems to tune up their armies to the max powerlevel, i’ve been thinking about the cd options… nope, lore of undead is not cool, neither is the folding fortress or such…
But when it comes down to magic, what do people prefer on their lvl 4’s?
I like Hashut pretty obviously… ashstorm to take a unit out of the game, 2d6 s6 flaming hits to knock out everything expensive (range not ab issue with taurus ir even flying carpet), hatred to give your destroyer or bull centaures an even more devasting damageoutput… And constantly lowering a units LD which is often ignored by the enemy ending ib -2/3 LD until they realise they got to do an ld check due to wm or such… heck even the big nr 6 spell with the better hellcannon plate is nice due to unlimited range and S6.
But LoD got it’s own right… sniperspells can kill smaller chars, monsters and warmachines alike… the -3 ld spell is also great when focussing on causing panic checks, -1 s/t is good for cc as it is for our warmachines… purple sun i think is dangerous wirh all that ini2 stuff in our army, but from time to time you are going to fave dwarfs or undead or such when this spell really shines…
Problems of both lores is range… on some spells.
So… which lore do xou prefer? And by choosing the lore, equippment of your sorcerer prophet and his battleplan (flying, bunker, between wm or whatever) would be nice to be mentioned as well…
Mine is:
Sorcerer Prophet
- LVL4
- Talisman of Preservation
- Luckshield (Cannonball)
- Chalice of Blood and Darkness
- Great Taurus
=545
Depending on the enemy, either hiding behind destroyer/iron daemon (in case of cannons Nd such) or going aggressive in the case of air supremancy… biggest con is loosibg the taurus and veeing forced to walk far away from your army which might be ending up bad for the little guy. Due to Taurus, great anti small unit combo, great for rear charges or esting through wm ir such… you can pick battles due to fly and support with the nice damage output of the taurus.
Or:
Sorcerer Prophet
- LVL4
- Talisman of Preservation
- Charmed Shield
- Flying Carpet
=400
You can place your prophet anong your wm for that juicy watch out sir of 2+. Then… just fly around and cast, use your units for haed Cover and watchout sir and there is little that could catch or shoot him. But- as you are alone, you can’t support as much as you can do with a taurus… no rear charges or killing msu… you just get mobile magic.
Your thoughts?

Schau schau!

Hey there, older but still alive! Became the quite reader :cheers Also got to update my painting blog :o
Malorndk:
Do you play with or without Magic of the End Times (MET)?
Without MET I would obt for death magic, since you can 6 dice the important stuff.
With MET I would take Hashut, since death is hard to spam (high casting cost+lowrange)
Against “biggies” like Malekith, Nagash, Glottkin and similar, Ashstorm might be your only chance to shut them down, by hexing their movement and magic phase
TheHoodedMan:
Im preparing for a tournament 2500 points with some restricitions and plan to use
Lore of Death, Lvl 4, Great Taurus, preservation, charmed shield, tricksters shard, energy stone, blood of hashut.
With the taurus range should not be the problem. Several sniper spells for all armies. They have relatively low casting numbers, you can get one through every turn. Soul Blight is really annoying and drastically changes match ups. Lore of Death on a flyer is a serious threat for itself and causes a lot of fear.
Without flying I would take Hashut simply because of range and its also a good lore.
Vantraxx the Thrice Cursed:
Death i prefer on a magic carpet, 2+ 4++ build. Can get LoS from infantry and warmachines so he can snipe and debuff Characters/monsters etc while remeining hidden and sharing his massive leadership. Also good to hide around hobgobbo units of 20.
Hashut i prefer for backing up Magma Cannons, stopping big nasties and backing up a black hammer character so he will run into alot of problems re missile fire so i prefer Taurus, Mask of furnace and Dawnstone combo for max protection.
Norngahl:
Hm thx guys!
I’m not firm with the endtimes magic rules, a friend if mine plays the glottkin armylist (but without the big daddy himself) and in his magic phase he claimed to have summoned nurgle demons due to the winds of magic roll… I fully trust him, but as a chaos dwarf, does our lore has a special bonus as well? Does death? What changes?

The more input you gave me, the more I think about kicking the great taurus and use carpet only… I’m usually no leadership bomb player but I think I’ll give it a try over hashut… always loved s6 missiles and ashstorm, but casting -3 ld in combo with our warmachines and sniping monsters/chars/wm alike sounds great as well… maybe the sorcerer prophet will earn some more points back rather than having more of a tactical value.
I like the offensive flying threat the taurus brings, but carpet build seems more survivable… rarely lost the taurus but most games he is close to death… on the other hand he eats through backfield units like nothing… and rearcharges are often the most devasting thing out there…
Malorndk:
Regarding your friends Glottkin rules:
He is completely fair in this regard but be aware that the Glottkin book has 2 rules entry. One is describing the new Legion of Chaos (armylist, marks for beastmen, new nurgle models and so forth) while the other describes the Chaos Ascended scenario rules, which isn’t an auto include, just because Legion of Chaos is. The Chaos Ascended rules describes the improved condition a chaos player achieves, when playing on a battle field infested with chaos power. I would always allow my opponent to use these rules for fun. But if he do, be aware that all your Daemonsmiths and Sorc-prophets gets the opportunity to summon Daemons as well, as the rules refers to Chaos Wizards as a general term
