Page 115 describes firing a stone thrower which you should find a handy reference. The rules for the Death Shrieker Rocket do indeed specify use a “coin or marker”.
But death rocket doesn’t have a reference to stone thrower in it’s description! Quite opposite , it has a very detailed description of how to use it. Thats why my doubts.
Well, let’s put it this way. If you tried to argue it at a tournament or friendly game, would anyone let you play it that way? It’s downright wrong to try to twist it the way you want. The rules are obvious in how they should be implemented. No one in their right mind would let you get away with how you want to play it.
No, he’s right - it never mentions “stone thrower” at all. The rules aren’t specific enough about how to place the template. We all “know” it’s supposed to be done that way, but if they’re going to needlessly reiterate a version of the rules for a stone thrower, they should probably do a better job of it…
No TO would rule in your favor & you can kiss any sports scores goodbye. If you aren’t in tournaments, then you won’t have friendly games for long. I say it’s down right cheating & I would “hate the player” for a stunt like that.
On a simular note can you fire the rocket into the center of a unit or only from in the first rank.
It states in the rules that the marker needs to be placed in the LOS of the rocket so if your not elevated you don’t have LOS to the middle of the unit.

Agreed, it was ruled during ETC that rockets need LOS, so they can't fire indirectly.
I am sorry but rules not only DONT say anything about centering template (and when centering is needed it is always clearly stated) they also precisely explain how to fire it. And you are not allowed to use 5" if marker goes of target, if marker doesnt cover any unit you have to use next rule to redirect shot. it doesnt sound dodgy to me, it sounds like DIFFERENT rules set- with different advantages and disadvantages.
