[Archive] Dwarf army (not chaos) Dipped

speedygogo:

Great job, it’s absolutely the best dipped army I have ever seen. Reading your explanation of how you wiped away excess varnish is something I will try in the future.

maxxev:

Work begins on the first Rhinox rider

Another D&D pre-painted plastic miniature helps out here, another bargin considering the cost of a metal / resin bear of similar size.

If I had £60 to throw around I would buy and convert Scibor’s armoured bear ((£30 each) I need 2).

I don’t therefore I’m doing it myself. I guarantee they won’t be as good because I’m not good at runes and Celtic details that Scibor laser etches and push molds onto his models, but hey, price is the consideration here. and these will come in at around 15% of the cost of Scibor’s bears…

Another update:

Thorne:

Oh warbadger bears of the golden compas! I love them where did you get the bear bodies ? I migth consider playing a shady ninja and taking this one as inspiration for some ogre bulls myself!

maxxev:

They are all D&D pre painted plastic models, smaller bears are “cave” bears, the larger one is a Dire bear.

I got mine off eBay.

maxxev:

Time for an update me thinks.

Working on rear armour & stuff now.

Oh and of course the 2nd bear.

Ogrob:

Looking good!

This message was automatically appended because it was too short.

Kered:

Very nice armoured bears the only thing that looks out of place is the armour the nose, it is very blockish were as the rest of the armour plates are elegantly curved. It’s still a great conversion, I think you might of inspired me the start a Kisleve army. Can’t wait to see a full unit of them.

The Stormchild:

Awesome army you got there!

Very original!

Fequiil:

what do you exactly mean with “dipped” army?

maxxev:

this should help.

You do realise that every time someone calls it 'the Golden Compass' instead of 'the Northern Lights' God kills a kitten?

Not really I can't mount a dwarf on him practically, I'm more likely to get Scibor's dwarf one day for the Ogre leader, assuming the new Ogre kingdoms book allows a tyrant to be mounted....

Also I have that bear anyway, I use it when I play warmachine... lol
