Dwarf Tales are know for some rather detailed dwarfs slightly bigger than GW miniatures - but still on 20mm bases.
Right now, they do 3 races: Lidds (Kind of beastmen), Dwarfs and Org’kka (kind of Orcs) - but it seems they are planing to do a few more: Humans, Elves and some evil dwafs called ‘Volgars’. Dwarfs that seems to be possessed by a daemonic Lord call Demedorr.
I could see that making a rather nice Daemonsmith or Daemonic engine crewman. Also, looking at their website, some of their existing Dwarf figures would already make pretty sexy Immortals or Heroes.
Nice models, not quite my taste, but at around £6 per model definately not for me as a whole unit. I’ll have to see how the scale works out for a single hero.
Just a small message I had a chat with Rafal from DwarfTales. He told me, that the next race will be humans (rather promising, too - look http://www.dwarftales.com/res/Nr9XN6HoTh/hussar01.jpg ), but after that they will do the Volgar’s
Just a small message ;) I had a chat with Rafal from DwarfTales. He told me, that the next race will be humans (rather promising, too - look http://www.dwarftales.com/res/Nr9XN6HoTh/hussar01.jpg ;) ), but after that they will do the Volgar's
Concept for the first Volgar Dwarf is up in the DwarfTales forum - first greens will be up soon
About his ‘static pose’ Kubasa wrote at the DwarfTales forum:
… - it’s pose may seem quite static, but it is intentional, as this is the ?oprologue? to the new race and I wanted all details to be extremely visible Anyway ?" it?Ts the dwarf, wicked and mutated but still the dwarf ?" so he mustn?Tt wave his limbs all around as some tumbler or clown
Kubasa
I like this concept - this could be some quite interesting alternatives.
With a price of something like ,7 each model - and a limited number of models available - definitely hero/special character potential - or a elite unit - and my guess is, that they will rank like s*** on 20mm bases
Quite big (my guess, it’s a 30mm base) - but I’m in love
EDIT: Guess not. 25-26mm to the top of his head. That okay for a dwarf. Must have had to many 3rd’s/Marauders in my hands, to know the ‘real’ size of a dwarf.
I don’t like the goggles, and the legs are odd. It looks like he has no thighs, let alone knees. Combined with the arms, this means he looks a bit like a fat human doing that thing where you tie shoes to your knees and walk around like a funny dwarf. Apart from those it looks really good.
