[Archive] Edge of the Abyss - Kings of War Campaign CALL TO ARMS!

Abecedar:

I still haven’t gotten any takers for a game. The fact that our work commitments always seem to clash doesn’t help at all

Carcearion:

I got a game in just today, a 17/3 victory in Rhys Dufaris for Chaos Dwarves!!!

I can’t turn it alone though, still need you guys to pile in!

Carcearion:

Alright fellow generals of evil!

We are only down 19 points right now in Rhys Dufaris! That means we only need a handful more wins to swing it! But we need to get cracking those whips to get it done.

I submitted a battle report of 6 photos, a short written bat rep, and included army lists - this allow me to score 3 points all on my own in just one battle (that was one more then the attrision score I won the match by!) - that means we could flip the whole region with just a smig of effort and a couple big wins!!

tjub:

Edge of the Abyss. Just saw that the missions and parts of the campaign book it up as a pdf, hosted by Mantic.

tjub:

Played the 4th senario, Opening of the Ways yesterday. Ended in a draw.

“Ay boss, we almost made it! You go tell 'dem skellie men that us saved the day. Keep enough of them portals working me think. But dere were nastiness on the other side, us don’t wants to be here when it gets out. Tell you that for sure boss, us better leggit!

Oh, and dem rock lobba boyz were dead on diz time boss. Tell 'em to lob more rocks next time boss and we’ll make dem stunties real flat! Beware of dat train thin boss, need boom next time as well. Colse one today boss, but now we better leggit quick before those skellie men are done!”

Carcearion:

My fellow generals of evil, I am happy to report that we are current the (rightfully) dominate power upon the face of Mantica! While the Dwarves of Rhys Dufaris are still holding strong against our assault I believe our pressure here has actually done in real life what it was said to do in the campaign lore: all the Dwarves players are so focused on defending Rhys Dufaris they aren?Tt helping out much in other theaters! Dwarves being one of most popular armies this is nothing to sneeze at- and we could still flip Rhys Dufaris!

Has anyone else managed to pile in? or is it just me and Tjub fighting the good (bad) fight?

?oYour dastardly gobbo efforts shall not go unnoticed Snark, I have recommended you for three commendations- your persistent assaults is precisely what we need from all members of our? alliance, shall we call it? even fighting them to a standstill thins their victories? perhaps we might see our way to forgetting the mushroom soup incident? ?" Thazhar Shadowaxe, master Ironcaster of Karagazkar

tjub:

The Green Lady looked in horror at the map before her. Surely it wasn?Tt possible? The battle had stood on the knife edge but now more and more territories kept falling to the madness of the Abyss. Even her beloved Forest of Galahir had been overwhelmed by goblins swarming from the mountains. How had it come to this? Only the stubborn dwarfs and selfish men seemed to be holding out against the onslaught. No, this must not stand! The troops must be rallied. The Abyss must be pushed back! The forces of Good must keep their resolve?

UNTIL MIDNIGHT (IN YOUR TIMEZONE) ON FRIDAY (SEPTEMBER 22ND), ALL GOOD FACTIONS TAKING PART IN THE EDGE OF THE ABYSS CAMPAIGN GAIN THE IRON RESOLVE SPECIAL RULE, I.E. IF THIS UNIT IS STEADY AS A RESULT OF A NERVE TEST, IT REGAINS 1 POINT OF DAMAGE PREVIOUSLY SUFFERED. THIS AFFECTS ALL GOOD UNITS THAT DON?TT ALREADY HAVE THE IRON RESOLVE SPECIAL RULE.
So, for those of you fighting this week, remember to make sure the Good forces apply this extra bonus.

Hehe, not mine. The original post came with this photo of the Green Lady so I just left her here as well... :hat off

Admiral:

Burn it all! Hehe, these weekend special rules for the underdog sounds fun in the midst of it, as long as the end result of the campaign includes some shifting of borders and territorial losses. Eye of Terror had some neat-looking campaign cards for various sectors and weeks, but I only saw them in WD and never played with them (one was a blockade run affecting Imperial and allied forces in one subsector).

The green lady is a good sculpt. Memorable. Mantic is getting better at it. Always good to see. Thanks for sharing, including your own battles. :hat off

Ah, jupp... It was stated before the campaign that there would be "buffs" etcduring it. Also its not a "destroy the world" kinda campaign more of which direction it will take, so Im not worried at all about that. There will be a lore book coming out for Kings of War before Xmas so we won't have to wait that long... :)

Carcearion:

Haha! We got them on the ropes guys!

Things must be pretty powerfully in our favor right now to tip things all the way over to handing them such a strong rule as Iron Resolve - and this buff looks slated to last for almost the entire rest of the campaign!

Carcearion:

Oh and one more thing!

I wanted to congratulate Tjub on currently being among the top three Goblin generals in the entire world wide campaign!

Also of note one of our own MiSiO is currently the 5th highest ranked Abyssal Dwarf general in the world wide campaign!

:cheers :cheers :cheers

tjub:

“Us fight fight hard boss, stabb em in the back!”

@Carcearion: Haha, no idea how Ive managed with that! :stuck_out_tongue: Next time it will be Abyssal Dwarfs for me…

If you could squeeze in two victories (and no loses - draws don't hurt you though) before the campaign ends I think you would finish out as the #1 Goblin player :D

Looking forward to having you on board next year - I wish I had managed to contribute more myself but the Tornament up in seattle capitalized my wargaming time and efforts (I should have reported my matches against good armies for the campaign! x.x). Its not over yet though!

Admiral:

Go Gothenburg Goblins! :h

Those fate-of-the-world campaigns from GW never made sense to me. Too much at stake. Smaller scale stuff like this, and the Albion campaign, is reasonable and usually easier to enjoy as well.

tjub:

@Carcearion: Been home sick this week though. so haven’t been able to get any games in… Hopefully we will be able to squeeze in one more though, and then btw on 30th of September it the  Kings of War International Campaign Day. Which we aim to take par in, not sure it we will be able to repport those battles as some kinda generic battles for the EotA. But anyway, looking forward to that as well! Really seems like we localy found Kings of War at the right time!

Listened to a pod, don’t remember which. But the tackled about there probably not being a KoW campaign next year, and that for the next campaign the would try to include Vanguard as well. Which is their skirmish rules soon to be released, as I understood it would be a great way to play one or more Vanguard clashes before a main battle to set the stage, especially for those bigger battles.

I know I might seem like a “I just found God…”-kinda guy here, but Ill really recommend you all to try a few games of KoW if you haven’t been able to yet. :hat off

Carcearion:

I’m getting some games in this weekend but unfortunately everyone attending is bringing evil armies so I won’t be able to record anything for the campaign x.x

I hope their is a summer campaign next year, has been a ton of fun and the campaign book even introduced some cool stuff. integrating vanguard sounds like allot of fun, it would be cool if maybe in vanguard you got some small bonus for winning to your proceeding KoW match. Like you get some small deployment advantage or something.

Seems like the forces of good held out in the end. The International Campaign Day III which ran last weekend was wonderful by the forces of good as well…

Ghrask Dragh:

Haha, great pic! Gutted in the end though, I’ve only just caught up on this thread again. Congrats on being in the top 3 Tjub that’s amazing, how’d you do at the end result?

Those forces of good, always holding out or winning the day or saving the princess, pffft :~
