[Archive] FW Open Day (mainly 40k stuff)

Grimstonefire:

Specifically for non fantasy/ CD related discussion.  That can wait for another thread…

AGPO will have to post what he heard, not that I really follow 40k much, but it sounded interesting.

Ironically, for once it seems I have taken a lot more pics of things than anyone else (on warseer or Dakka).  Not that I intended it this way, but I seem to have done it!

Some pics. I make no apologies if any of these pics are bad quality, most of them are good I think. There are pics of specific weapons and things on warseer, for anyone interested.

Orks are really getting a lot of love from Forge World and GW, why not our Chaos Dwarfs?

Actually Orks are much better than those boring marines… Waaaaaagh!

Loki:

Ya, I LOLed when I saw that as well.

They've learned a little about their customers it seems.

Because Orks are the next Imperial Armour book!
Waaaagh!

Grimstonefire:

Seeing as he’s already posted it on other forums… Would you believe that AGPO and I seem to be the only ones who went to FW open day and actually bothered to ask about them doing fantasy!? Crazy.

Grimstonefire asked me to post this here, should be interesting tosee what comes out.

I had a very productive chat with Mark Bedford amongst others at the weekend, who confirmed a few things and also gave some interesting tips.

- There will be a whole seperate division, but it will still fly under the Forge World banner

- There will be regular campaign books, much like the Imperial Armour volumes

- Generic monsters such as the cockatrice may well be making a comeback

- There will be no gap fillers - those wanting Jabberslythes etc will have to wait for BoC phase II

- Skaven will be getting a whole load of attention, with Empire, Orcs, WoC and Dwarfs also getting some stuff

- Mounts that appear for more than one army, such as Griffons are likely high up the production timeline

- Heralds are being discussed

- We could see some VERY BIG things, I’m talking Warhound big

He was fairly tight lipped about some things - eg Chaos Dwarfs (although another designer confirmed to me that they had been discussed) and Rick Priestly’s involvement. Most of the stuff is still in the ‘it’d be pretty cool to do this’ phase. Skaven, the Griffon, supplements and campaign books are more or less certain. One thing he was very firm on is that they won’t be producing anything to plug gaps in existing army lists - it will be entirely new stuff and variations on current things.

Hashut’s Blessing:

Looks like the typical 40k fanboy stuff: Orks and Space Marines above all else, for the most part. However, some good sounding elements regarding Fantasy and the new FWF area. Good job!

Grimstonefire:

I must admit I was surprised when AGPO told me about the Cockatrice era of monsters, as I would have expected them to stick mainly to the established mounts for things.  Going back to all those ones would certainly appeal to some older players (with the gobbo hero on death chicken!!), but actually fitting them into alternate versions of current lists seems a strange way to do it.

I’m guessing the Zeppelin will fit into the warhound size.  I think concept art of it has already been spotted by harry etc.  Bear in mind that for FW to release something like that it would really have to have rules, and so far I think they contain all rules within Imperial Armour style books with lots of other models released.

I really liked the photoshopped images they did of things as well, it would bode very well for Chaos Dwarfs (when they eventually get around to them).
